Do you consider flinging a McMuffin top out the window littering?

I often get a sausage egg and cheese McMuffin and take the top muffin off, I just eat the sausage, egg, cheese and bottom muffin. I don’t particularly care for the muffin part, mainly interested in the sausage and round egg. When I do this and am in the middle of nowhere I fling the top muffin out the window. I don’t consider it littering, more like feeding birds. Well yesterday I did it on an isolated stretch of interstate and it was observed by a hiding Alabama state trooper. He pulled me over for littering. I explained what it was that I frisbeed and he didn’t write me a ticket, but said he could have. I just don’t think throwing bread out the window should be a crime. Unless you’re in town or something...

Maybe just order the thing without the top muffin.

Littering aside, you’re encouraging animals to come closer to the interstate than they might otherwise. Probably better to just dispose of it with the rest of your breakfast trash next time.

What you should do is take it and kind of crush it in your fist and grind it up holding your hand out the window and let the crumbs drop out. It'll be easier for animals to eat and I don't think anyone will say anything to you.

Clearly you don't mind getting nasty grease all over your hands.

Technically speaking, yes.

I wouldn't want someone throwing their McMuffin top into my yard.

That said, I'd have no problems doing the same thing you did.

Yes, it’s littering. Food items take weeks or months to decompose.

Throw that away like an adult.

By the definition of law, littering.

By spirit of the law, not littering.

Nah, I can sail a muffin top at 80mph like 57 feet. Plus it’s birds I’m attracting. Or ants or possums. I think it’s ok

Actually a high percentage of birds of prey (hawks, eagles etc) are killed or injured due to this type of action.

Rats and mice come to eat the discarded roadside food. The birds of prey start hunting on the roadways due to the rats and mice being there. Inevitably the birds are hit by passing cars.

Learned this at a bird rehabilitation facility that I visited years ago. Had never thought of the possible chain of events.

I think if I was hurling loaves of bird at regular intervals it could start a feeding frenzy. I just don’t see it with a muffin top
