No, because you don't grasp the fact that these people were doing nothing wrong by standing on their own property. They weren't in the street and they were not disrupting what the police were doing.

That was some straight up Nazi bull shite... I hope to God they sue the shite out of them...

Yeah I agree.

Could have all been avoided if they had followed police commands and gone inside.

Not an unreasonable request. I’m inside my house right now, it’s great.

You're either an idiot, or just making a bad attempt to troll...

Please tell me it's the latter...

Maybe I’m just a reasonable person that doesn’t think going inside my house is a big deal

If I’m on my own property aren’t I complying with a curfew?

Isn't it as misdemeanor to disobey a lawful order by a police officer? thought you could only refuse if he was telling you to do something illegal. It's like police telling you to put out a cigarette while they're stopping you for a traffic violation. It's not illegal to smoke but if you don't put it out they can arrest you for not obeying with a police order

There was that cop that told a guy at the gas station to get his wallet from his truck and then shot the guy because he went for his wallet too quickly.

ate to break it to you, but police can give you orders while you’re standing on your porch.

If those folks had gone inside they would not have been shot. There is really nothing else to it.

You would be Hitler's wet dream: A fine SS soldier, just following orders.

A lawful one yes. The curfew order gave them no such authority.

The number of people who trade security for freedom will never surprise me.

No. However, I see your stance. Whether it's an unlawful order or not, it's better to comply with an order to simply avoid the headache of dealing with the repercussions of a dick head officer. After all, it's just going inside your own home; "what's the big deal?" The point these other people arguing with you are trying to convey is that this should not be the norm, and that these people should not be in a positions of power. History is an indicator that it's a slippery slope from "get inside your home now" to "get in the train car headed to the camp".

For the record, I would've went inside.

The problem is that the curfew order is written poorly and left room for interpretation. It should have explicitly stated that people are free to congregate outside on their own private property. It shouldn't be the case and no one should have to be given the right to be outside of their own home not causing trouble. The police should have just kept going and not engaged with the people.

No, it’s because you blindly defend and comply police commands just because they are police commands without assessing if they are even lawful, much less reasonable.

So the idea that you living in Germany 90 years ago would’ve gladly thrown a group of Jewish people into a chamber and turned on the gas just because the police told you to really doesn’t seem that far fetched. Or even better, if you were one of those Jewish people you would’ve happily walked into that chamber just because the police told you to.

After all:

“You will never win an argument with a cop in the streets.”

“Don’t try to run, don’t argue with cops, don’t assault cops, don’t resist arrest. You’ll have your day in court to fight with a lawyer.”

“All I’m saying is if you are polite and follow police commands, you will not get “literally murdered”.”

“Argue morals and the way things should be all you want, I’m telling you the basic steps you should take to not die at the hands of police. It’s common sense.”

Police officers have to deal with the dregs of society on a daily basis. They get cursed, they are spit on, they have to worry if they will make it home alive after their shift. They also have to deal with people who shove cameras in the officer's face, trying to elicit an aggressive response for their youtube channel. Then they have to work a second job doing security at walmart. Yet we expect them to act like Chik Fil A employees. "Have nice day sir, thanks for calling me a f***ing piece of sh**". I would never want to be a cop, (except when I'm behind grandma doing 58 mph in the left hand lane on the basin bridge) but I do respect their sacrifice.

Try not to slip on that slope you made there.

Feel free to be a martyr for your cause, as for me and my family, we will be safely inside my house, not being shot by police.
