If there is anything the Sword and Scale podcast has taught its listeners is that monsters do exist. Sit in a courtroom for a month and listen to facts in a case involving a cold blooded murder or crimes against children. One guy charged with murder here shot and killed a gas station clerk AFTER he gave him the money. Guy stands in court every time with no sense of remorse. Just gives you the chills. No doubt if this guy doesn’t get life, he will kill again.

If he has no sense of remorse that is just someone who has some issues with the part of the brain that produces remorse.. Many of us might think about harming someone for whatever reason, but we have the ability to not go through with the action, some people dont.

evil is the lack of empathy. A broken brain. I think some folks are born with it and some are born with a pre-disposition and their environment can trigger it.

It is. Otherwise what is evil/good is arbitrary. What's "evil" in Western culture and in Sub-Saharan Africa, or the Middle East in 2017 is different. You can go back in history in a particular culture and notions of good and evil change.
One either believes that there is a higher power that determines good and evil or it is completely arbitrary.
