How do y'all feel about it?
I feel this is a stupid thing to argue with your wife about.

I'm all for it. First move in a vehicle should always be forward if you can

Exactly. You see what around you when you prepare to back in.
If you back out you can't always see what, or who is around.

Same here. People don't watch their kids.
I couldn't live with myself if I ran over a child.

So on the slanted parking spots how do you back into those? Drive past it like parallel parking and bust a U in reverse? Or drive the wrong way down a one way to back it in?
These are the exceptions. Although usually a place that has slanted spots also have regular spots on the premises. Then I use those.

Oh but I started it of course.

There was a very detailed study completed just recently that concluded that people who back into parking spots are the same ones that drive slow in the left lane.

It adds up. 5-days a week morning commute in a multi story parking garage with several hundred cars all arriving at nearly the same time in ATL. Stop and go car caravan. I'm not referring to the guy backing in at a restaurant on a Friday night.

But I'll only do that if I can be certain there's not another car in that other lane who may be planning to take that spot. If I'm not certain, I won't dick someone over like that.

No. But I have a Wrangler and that's super easy to park

Smith driving says you always back in. Much safer when exiting

I tend to back into anything, including my wife. Drives her "nuts."

With a truck or work van backing in makes it easier to get out.
With a back up camera it shouldn't take longer than pulling in.

Back-in Parking is wonderful...but there's always that one idiot who doesn't quite get it

I pull forward if there's an empty parking spot in front of me

I always made fun of backwards parkers. Ever since I got a large truck, it's clearly the way to go. It prevents 14 point turns when backing out to exit in tight spots. The axle with turning wheels is at the front when leaving the parking spot.
