It's fascinating that so many people willfully expose their ignorance.

You have a good idea of your surroundings when getting to a parking spot. Safer to pull forward out of a spot than back out of it

My old truck was a Superduty long bed fx4, almost had no choice but to back into most parking spaces. New one is a Superduty short bed fx4, can almost park forward in every spot, but I have been so used to backing in that I still do it most of the time.

Safety.

I generally always back in unless I'm going to hold people up. Just habit from being in the military, where it's also required.

Most of the time. We're required too for work (First move forward policy).

When I had a truck I for sure did, much easier than pulling in for perpendicular spots.

If everyone backed in I wouldn't have to constantly deal almost being hit by those backing out blindly.

I have a backup camera as well, if the parking spots are not angled, backup camera or not, you are backing out blindly.

My car will sense a car coming from either side behind me while I'm backing out. Even before I can see it, it's beeping at me.

I've owned 4 full size trucks and never backed into a parking spot unless I was loading / unloading something. What do you find difficult about parking forward?

Mr Smith of Smith driving says that backing is the devil and should be avoided at all cost. Backing into parking spaces is preferred because you can see the area before you back, where views might be blocked by other cars if you back to leave. Company policy

Fair enough(mine does as well), but that doesn't mean the other car has a sensor and won't run into you.

Backup cameras and sensors still don't make it safer to back out of a parking spot, it's safer to back in and pull out of the spot going forward.

Backing in is indeed better, but these people are dangerous because they don't incrementally pull out until they can see, so I wouldn't trust them to back in to park either, or to really do anything right behind the wheel.

Oh I agree, I was just mentioning that feature. It helps when backing out of the garage for sure.

Yea, that's also true, unfortunately.

I park on the 5th floor of a parking garage every day at work, and every single day, I get at least 1, usually more, people that don't incrementally pull out when going backwards, and i have to hit my brakes as I know they'll never see me. So annoying.

Safer to leave going straight out in case of emergency.
