Aren't the bulk of their citizens dirt poor?
I think they spend a ton on defense.
I'm not really well versed on that subject, but I believe it.

Whatever nuclear weapons they have are probably crappy (get it?) but even crappy weapons can do damage.

last test was 70-240 kTon explosion and 6.3 richter scale event
For some perspective, the bomb that wiped out Hiroshima was about 15 kTon. Our most powerful nuke today is the B83 which has an estimated yield of 1.2 megatons, or 1,200 kTon.

No those nuclear tests that were picked up seismically thousands of miles away were just M80s.

Yes, they do have nuclear weapons. Poop balloons are just their way of trying to provoke South Korea.

In recent weeks, the North has floated more than a thousand trash-filled balloons across the heavily fortified border, in what it claims is a response to the years-long practice among South Korean activist groups of sending balloons with anti-North Korea leaflets in the other direction.

Do we really think a country that uses poop balloons is sophisticated enough to have/use nuclear weapons???
Cost/benefit analysis

I am more concerned with them launching a satellite with an EMP device.

Yes we…err, they do the capability

They've successfully tested nuclear bombs
They've successfully tested ICBMs that can launch those bombs all the way to the US west coast.
So yes I would say they have the weapons and the capability
Some of this is true, some of it isn't, and some of it is typical North Korean bullshite. It all depends on how much you value North Korean "claims".
That last part of your post is almost certainly typical North Korean bullshite.

If they even tried, we would wipe them off the face of this earth within hours. Don’t mess with the USA….

Here's the thing about N. Korea: Kim Jon Un's only motivation is to keep himself in power and maintain his luxurious lifestyle. He knows that any aggressive action on his part using nuclear weapons would get him taken out without the protection of China. What worries me is that if he saw that his reign was ending by an invading force, he would use nuclear weapons.

I just hope the U.S. is taking this chit seriously…

Yeah, more of a threat to S. Korea or Japan. North Korea could probably hit those two countries, I doubt they could actually hit the US with a first strike. Hell, how many hundreds of millions if not billions did the US Government give North Korea in the 90’s and early 2000’s? We helped pay for it.

I don’t see how poop balloons have any correlation to ones ability to have a nuclear program.
