I think my wife had a 7 until about a month ago. All she does is Facebook, call and text. She doesn't really care about her phone as long as those 3 things work.
Wait until she finds out that they started putting cameras on those things.
In all seriousness though, the pictures that new phones take are incredible. Not sure if it's actually the camera, or just the phone editing the picture before it shows it to you.

I had one night operator that I made $5,000 in overtime off of last year because he cratered his computer every night. I had to quit charging because it was starting to look bad on him. An outright refusal to adjust here would cost you your job.

When I first started where I am now there was an old frick with the same role as me. Had been there for like 40 years.
Dude wouldn’t use a smart phone or a computer. He asked a few times for me to work up some of his shite on the computer and being a team player I agreed. Eventually the guy was asking me to do all this shite for him and I eventually blew a gasket on him. Once upper management found out what was going on he was forced to retire early and I got a raise, so it worked out thankfulky.

I want to say "Boomers", but the truth is there is middle ground between staying in the stone age and needing every task to be handled via some tech/gadget.
Where that line should be is where max productivity meets ease of use for a majority of the group.
Failure to obtain proficiency of the technology, either through lack of ability or want should trigger a review of job competency.

I still use an old fashioned planner book and don't keep any dates electronically.

It’s incredibly infuriating as a younger employee that we are being inefficient like that as well as spending god knows what on printing so much paper
sorry the junior staffer cant accept that his veteran superior doesn't embrace your way of thinking. when you get promoted beyond your secretarial position, maybe someone will ask for your opinion.
Only thing you need to be efficient at is doing what your told. Meanwhile, shut up and retype the memo with my corrections.

I work in construction, so yes.

Yes I know people who make 6 figures a year who can't rotate a PDF.

Bluebeam is really easy.
I worked with a guy a decade ago that refused to give up his digitizer. He came in one morning and it mysteriously disappeared.

i guess i'm that guy. i use wordperfect because it works, and is easy to use. the whole world is going word, but it's a third rate word processor for basic stuff. i'm trying to hang on until retirement, but it gets tougher every day.

This one person with 17 years experience has caused 2 to leave since March already and I just gave them my notice. Protected by "her people"....we had to reschedule a meeting because it was on a "high holiday" and we were being insensitive to her cult religion that sucks baby penises.

quote:Sorry, but no. If you're working in teams and your "way of thinking" is severely slowing the work of your teammates, and leading them to potentially work with outdated information and/or forces them to make a phone call before doing anything productive, they're better off without you.

I work with good ol boys who have been with the company since the HQ was moved to LA 35 years ago. There are guys who PRINT out their emails & sift thru them in high levels meetings when asked questions/have to look up points.
The absolutely REFUSE to learn our CRM or basically anything having to do with Microsoft Office.
Then they complain & blame others for our company falling behind others in response times & job executions while remaining confident that it's not their fault due to the time it takes to deal with them & get answers out of them.
The company continously attempts to send them to Microsoft Office "training camp", all expenses paid, & they always balk at it/never go.
And somehow these clowns earn $200,000+. They'd make another $100,000 if they would just learn how to use Office + Outlook + learn to text message. Or be bothered to get to the office before 10am & take less than a 2 hour lunch every day.

We use an application called Robohead for collaborative editing, etc. I was able to get several old-timers to convert, they actually really liked it.
Commenting in a PDF sucks. This tool makes it simple. I'm sure there are others.

If we converted to Word, every one of our girls would walk out too

I just hate how the conversion to Word looks sometimes. Of course, none of my clients have Wordperfect.
