Separate, but we have the same bank and can transfer back and forth as much as we want.

She's responsible with money so I don't mind. Hell, we work on our joint budget together every month.

She gets one as long it will be the only car payment we have. I just bought a new truck so it should be paid off in three years and she can get a luxury car.

Yep and we have a joint account. Joint account gets funded as a percentage of our salaries to cover house and family bills. The rest to us individually.

I don't want to know what she spends on bullshite.

find this ridiculous in a true marriage. It's all community property anyway

It makes like easier.

My wife would bitch every time I went and spent a grand at guitar center.

We have separate accounts to spend on our own dumb shite.

And a joint account with the majority of the money in it.

But both our names are on all the accounts

Same. We've really just never gotten around to joining the accounts. It's worked for us for years now though. Just a simple tap, tap on our Chase apps and money is transferred between accounts.

People need to realize that there is no one right way to manage your money as a married couple. Each couple needs to sit down and discuss finances together and decide what works for them. For some...joint everything works, for others all separate works, or a combination of two works.

As long as you are keeping an open conversation about finances with your spouse, who cares?

We started out with separate spending accounts, but it became complicated to keep the accounts free. Had to deposit more than just spending money and it became a shell game of who pays for various things and was more trouble then it's worth, and we consolidated. As long as our spending budget is ok we generally don't bother worrying about small purchases.

We do. We each have separate mad money accounts that we can spend on whatever we want without the other person bitching. We agreed on the amount that gets deposited each month. Everything else goes into a joint checking for bills, a joint savings and investment accounts.

One account. Everything dumps in it.

It's simpler.

Joint checking and savings accounts but managed separately.
Individual credit cards.
For 23 years it has worked for us - never a fight over money.
I took the majority of bills since I make more until we were debt free.
Today, house is paid, truck is paid, she has a company car, and zero credit card debt.
3-4 nice vacations per year. I get my guns when I want them and she buys her clothes when she wants.
Only bills are utilities and daily living expenses. She handles utilities and I fund insurances. Retirement is fully funded.
Just takes trust and communication.

My wife and I have separate accounts. Only been married for 6 months though. Might change in future but I find it easier to keep up with bills and money that way personally. I pay most of the bills and she just gives me money here and there

I'm not married but I feel that if I ever get married I'm definitely going to want to keep separate bank accounts. I think taking money out of the equation would lead to a happier marriage.

Thoughts?

How beta of you..

Alphas run the household so this is a non-issue.
