Nah, I'll just die. My family can feed themselves from my remains.

Pop Tarts. Pop Tarts are the perfect food for long term prepping. They stay good forever, travel well, don’t require prepping, and are delicious. I always have Pop Tarts ready to go if the shite hits the fan.

Anyone who lives in a disaster prone area that could see power outages and loss of other utilities for multiple weeks (i.e. any coastline), should at least carry a few weeks of emergency supplies including food, in their home.

I have 3 months of rice and beans, seasoning crisco for fat, Water filters, a hand saw to cut wood, and a clean trash can and tarp to catch and keep water.

My plan is to stay home and ride it out for 90 days then see where we are at.

So the guy living in a high risk area that has experienced multiple natural disasters over his lifetime is an idiot for wanting to be prepared, but you, the guy watching Big Bang Theory re-runs and equating that to real life isn’t?

This is Biden’s America.

I have a good bit of beans and rice vacuum bagged. Will be adding canned goods soon. Especially canned meats

I can honestly see a time in the not so distant future where you receive an email from Amazon that says "we're sorry, we are no longer able to provide our services to you. We have discovered you voted for candidate X, and as he/she does not support our corporate (political) values, we can no longer allow you to remain a customer."

This is EXTREMELY well said and insightful. Many will scoff at your vision; laugh it off as absurd... but it is actually rather easy to predict for anyone truly paying attention.

Even more tragic, at least 15% of the posters on this board would favor Amazon doing this. 5% would favor that plus incarceration for us "wrong-thinkers"

Agreed. After the winter storm this year I expanded what I keep on hand. I got a few extra bottles of propane and a propane heater. I always have extra water and gas on hand.

Oh and i have cattle, a garden and grow some good green herb (legally).

If you live in a friendly state, you may want to think about some green plants.

We're literally starting our homesteading this week on our new property.

I don't mind people thinking we're lunatics. We'll be able to feed and protect ourselves. How ridiculous

We have a stocked pond with bass & brim. We'll have some poultry and game birds. We'll have a few goats. We'll have a mini-farm garden & greenhouse. We have well water with a solar-powered back-up pump. We have firearms to fend off wild animals and protect our farm. Just need the world to not collapse for about a year or two while I get everything up and running.

I keep a year's supply of McDonald's cheeseburgers at the ready since they do not degrade.

I just keep several fat bags of silver coins in the vault. It always will increase in value and if the fiat currency falters or is devalued it holds a numismatic and silver value.

It Wouldn't last forever but I would watch most others starve first.

Not just buying ammo and having bug out bag stuff at the ready if needed, but long term food storage mostly.

Nah. I keep my eye on those I know who are prepping so when SHTF I'll know who to target for supplies

I have a few hundred pounds of rice, lots of beans, lots of pasta, SPAM, canned tuna, dried milk, baking mixes, etc. Pretty much basics but can survive a few months comfortably. It isn't hard to grab an extra bag of rice or beans each week or during sales, it lasts years, and it's stuff I'm going to use anyway.

I've also been grabbing Lifestraws, extra fishing gear, matches, camping supplies, and obviously ammo and mags little by little over time.

I wouldn't call myself a prepper, just a guy that understands it doesn't hurt to be prepared just in case. Hurricanes, floods, ice storms, all things that should've shown people it pays to prepare now instead of in the future when shite goes down.

Who is going to trade their food and water for some shiny piece of metal? I know damn sure I would never do that. Maybe other boomers who still think precious metals would be a form of currency in a SHTF situation.

Well, a couple of rules to live by in that scenario is don’t check in on FB where you bug out to, and of course fortified positions and high ground with egress routes apply.

Not all of us are grazing cattle to feed upon.

Nope. Just ammo. That'll cover anything I need. Living in the backwoods of LP with a long driveway, plenty of gardens, and well water doesn't hurt. My ancestors lived right here through the Civil War and did just fine. I think we're good.

I have a similar setup we started in 2017. I haven’t figured out a reliable way to feed our animals except for growing and processing corn, which I don’t want to do.
