OTR Trucker here - In the fall I usually stock up with MRE's and several gallons of water in my truck in case I get stuck in a less than desirable spot in the winter time. Learned my lesson once when I got stuck between Cheyenne and Casper for a couple of days in a snowstorm, had some canned food and such to eat and kept my water intake to a minimum since I only had 2 gallons. The last time I got stuck I was prepared and ate well and kept hydrated.

Improving your relationships with the people that live around you is a much better long term prep than buying ammo. If you are surrounded by strangers everyone is an enemy and all the ammo in the world can't save you.

That’s true, because a bartering system would be the very first thing that would take place in a real bad situation. Ive got salt and you’ve got meat. I need meat, but you need salt to cure the meat so it doesn’t go bad.

We don’t need to. My mother in law lives a mile away and has enough food on hand at all times to stock a food bank.

No I don’t, Mr. FBI man. I have full faith in our government and it’s leaders.

I do before hurricane season. There’s 9 ppl in my house so I just can’t go out to a store 3 days before a hurricane and get a week’s worth of food for everyone.

I’m still waiting on the Y2K fiasco to get here. I have enough ammo for about 500 rounds.

This is generally what will happen. When I think Prep, I think just enough to help me gain some self sufficiency.

Enjoy starving to death or most likely being murdered for whatever meager food you have.

My plan is to stay home and ride it out for 90 days then see where we are at.
At your home in a city? Yeah, good luck with that.

I hope you have firearms and a good supply of ammo, be a you’re going to need them.

I’ve started to. Lots of protein powders and cheap grains. Stuff to keep warm and light sources. And lots of guns and ammo as well

I just keep several fat bags of silver coins in the vault. It always will increase in value and if the fiat currency falters or is devalued it holds a numismatic and silver value.

Exactly.

The only precious metal in a crisis is lead and brass.

I'm more of a hunter than gatherer. Most plants tended by me are cursed...

I am in a good location for hunting and fishing though.
