Family wants to go to Disney, again. Personally I'd like to go to Universal instead, been to Disney several times and so over it. Any suggestions or pros and cons to each. I'd hate to talk up Universal and it turns out worse. TIA.
Would put on the Travel Board but too boring over there.

Depends. Do you like seeing fatties double fisting turkey legs or Harry Potter fans?

WDW. Universal is where the absolute dregs of society go. Just think about it this way the land whale in their motorized scooter at WDW look down upon Universal and prefer WDW.

Personally I’d much rather a vacation to the beach or the mountains.

I like both. The rides are better at universal but the employees aren't the same.
I actually got into an argument with the guy who ran the lockers because I couldn't get mine open and he was a dick about it.
You're always right at Disney.

More booze at Universal. If that helps. They both suck to me.

Depends on what you're looking for. IMO, Disney is for younger kids and the rides aren't all that great if you're older.

Universal has better rides and more of them. We enjoy universal with our kids getting a little older. Both parks at universal are pretty cool. I think islands of adventure is the better of the 2 parks.

You can get turkey legs at both but more booze at Universal. I'd go to Universal and I'd put this on travel board.

This. Would love the mountain trip but I'd be by myself.

Universal is about the rides. The rides are better. Harry Potter world alone is the most immersive experience in all 5 major parks in Orlando. You are 100% swallowed up in full Harry Potter stuff, if you like HP. Disney is magical for the kids, and have great park shut downs if you are the sort that stays all day to the end. (i strongly recommend getting the pass where you can go back and forth between both isles of adventure on the HP train btw). There are two completely separate harry potter segments. Diagon-alley and then Hogsmeade+hogwarts. Visit both taverns and get the themed beers. Both are really good.

Universal allows for beer, has a whole section on simpsons (Duff beer included), loads of high quality carnival style games to screw around with, comic book sections, and -wicked- roller coasters. Granted, Hollywood Studios has rock'n roller coaster which is among the best rides out there. But at Universal you get Hulk, rip ride rocket, the mummy, transformers, and 2 solid HP rides.

It's sort of an apples and oranges theme park experience to Disney. Disney is for families and kids, and universal is for thrill seeking adults... but, to me, the magic at universal is 100% under rated. every street and area is themed with complete design thought and intention. it's not like at six flags where you are just going from ride to ride with manicured trees and food stands in between. Disney parks blend each park segment to flow such that you forget you're leaving one place and going into another. At Universal, you may be on one street and then BAM you take a left and you're on a whole diff theme.

Long story short: depending on the age of your kids, you're probably screwed, but you'd like universal better.

Do you pay the bills or not? Plan a fricking trip to the mountains and tell your family they are welcome along, but that you won't be paying for another trip. If they stay their asses at home, frick them.

Go to Universal once and you will never go back again. WDW is light years ahead, except possibly in food prices.

Or you can end up like Jodi Arias’ boyfriend, whichever you choose

You can do Universal in a day, day and a half. Stay at one of the campus resorts and you get fast passes for every ride except that new Harry Potter one.

We've been to Orlando 3 times.

First trip: Stayed at an off-site townhouse condo. Nice place. Tickets for 2 days at Disney, 1 day at Universal, 1 day at Seaworld. Enjoyed Universal the most.

Second Trip: Stayed in Hard Rock suite at Universal for 3 nights, then Contemporary Resort at Disney for 2 nights. Hard Rock had better accommodations and food. Disney (Contemporary Resort) had slower access to the park, even with a monorail running through the hotel.

Third Trip: Universal / Hard Rock. Great time. Family didn't miss Disney at all. Dumped 10 grand on a short vacation, but we had great time.

Do what you and your family enjoy the most, and screw the haters.
