Port Orleans French Quarter is easily my favorite of the moderate resorts. It's very compact so the walking from room to the main building, food court , parking lot or bus stop is minimal. The rooms are fine for just needing a place to rest for the night or recharge in the afternoon. Pool is adequate. Plus, you can take advantage of the ferry to Disney Springs. It's much better than the other moderates (Riverside, Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs) where they have multiple bus stops. I cannot stress how much better it is because of the sing bus stop.

The main reason I looked at the Polynesian was for the monorail. The Allstar resorts are ok, but there are so many people who stay there, the buses get bogged down. How crowded do the buses get at the Port Orleans?

If you can afford it it's not even close. Being on the monorail line is priceless.

Absofrickinglutely....especially if you have kids. We were there in January with our 2 girls and we're going back with relatives in October. My wife has already stated she wants to stay at the Poly again because of the monorail. I told her I'm not too sure we can get the same discounted room rate this time....but :fingerscrossed:

Depends on what time of year you're there. But, as long as they're running buses to and from French Quarter ONLY, they won't be anything like the All Star buses. Every now and then they will share buses between French Quarter and Riverside.

I much prefer French Quarter to Riverside but if you know this much in advance you are going, look into renting DVC points and get a deluxe for the same cost (or cheaper).

I've used David's for years and can't beat walking to one or more resorts.

Yeah i can understand that, this last trip i went on I stayed at Grand Floridian and got really spoiled having the monorail right there.

I did find them overly crowded.

I wonder if New Yorkers stay at the New York, New York casino when they go to Vegas.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside 3 weeks ago. It was good (not great). We literally were at the parks all day everyday so we really only slept and went to pool once. Its a massive resort, lucky for us we had room close to lobby.

P.O. is nice.. The moderates are a step up from the cheep resorts.. The rooms are a little bigger, they have queen size beds and coffee pots... The best thing is the clientele.. They know the thing about personal space... For some reason, the people at the cheep resorts know nothing about it...

I think the Contemporary gets the edge with small kids - plus it is THE Magic Kingdom resort. You walk in the morning (200 yards, maybe) because the monorail goes the wrong way - that was our first stay (before we discovered Shades of Green - ) - to give you an example of the time saved - we stayed until the very end of the night parade at MK - we walked out of the gates at 10:02, headed up the monorail ramp - and I was already in my shorts and flip flops a 10:15. That was pretty sweet.

But, for couples who want to stay on the monorail, I think Polynesian is tough to beat - some of the largest rooms on the resort. We always think we want to stay at the Floridian - until we price it.

Going in two weeks. We will be staying at the Polynesian for the first time. We are DVC members though. I would never pay the rate for a night there. I have stayed at port Orleans before, about 7 years ago. Honestly it did not impress me. I would save the money and just stay at an all star resort. You won't be in the room that much any way.

I've told my wife that I pretty much only want to stay here from now on. We've stayed at pretty much every resort except the Grand Floridian and Polynesian is the best. It's 100% Disney from the time you step into the lobby. It's on the monorail and it's less than a 5 minute walk to the ticket and transportation center which give you a straight shot to EPCOT and/or allows you to catch the ferry to Magic Kingdom if you want to. You also have a resort boat service form Magic Kingdom. You have no reason to wait is a crazy line to get back to Polynesian.

People say this all the time but when you're there in 2 weeks pay attention to the bus stops for every All-Star resort. You'll easily see what it's worth the extra money to at least stay moderate.

I would recommend the Animal Kingdom resort. Pool is super dope and plus there is a zoo right outside your door.

Ok, I was looking at purchasing points also. So you've had no issues with this site? It seems to be the one that everyone recommends. It would be nice to stay in one of the Polynesian DVC rooms for the price of the moderate, but the fact that its not through Disney gives me pause.

We stayed there (Port Orleans French Quarter) a few years back. We loved it! As someone else said, we also got a river view. We loved the food court and one or two nights we walked over to Riverside for dinner. It is an easy walk. They have running/walking trails, carriage rides, and a pool with a cool dragon waterslide for the kids.

Caribean Beach is not bad, better than Port Orleans but both are about the same
Stayed in Polynesian last trip, they upgraded us because of a cheerleader competition that took up all of Carib Beach where we normally stay.

Now it will be hard to ever go back especially with the dole whip bar right by our room.

Holy Price Discrepency, Batman.

We stayed at AoA last fall. Can't think of a better place with young kids other than the AKL but I'm waiting until I'm an OT baller before doing that.

It looks nice, but its $100 more a night. I might as well pay the extra money for the Poly.
