Planning a trip for 2017. I was looking at the Polynesian, but its so damn expensive. I definitely do not want to stay in one of the Allstar resorts again. So, while looking at the moderate resorts, the Port Orleans caught my eye; specifically the French Quarter. Anyone have any experience with this resort?

Stayed at Port Orleans several times.. Really nice for a moderate priced resort.

Nice little jazz bar up at main lobby for an after park wind down drink.

Food court is good..granted it is food court type food..but better than nothing.

Last time we stayed, we had a corner room that looked out over the river.. It was nice. Short walk to main lobby as well.

Stayed there in February.

We didn't do much at the resort except for sleep but it's fairly small so you don't have to walk a long way to the bus stop and the busses don't have to make 10 stops at other resorts before going to the park.

I don't see a reason to pay more for a nicer resort unless it gets you on the monorail. I really dont see any perks to staying at the premium resorts other than that.

Great choice. It's probably the most under-rated of the resorts. It's a very relaxing resort and not a Convention property like some of the others. I found it to be the quietest of all the properties I have stayed at.

for our next trip, we are trying to decide between Art of Animation and Polynesian.

I'd love to stay at the Polynesian but it's pricey.

If you can afford it it's not even close. Being on the monorail line is priceless.

AoA is pretty solid. They have their own bus too which is nice. Any way cheaper than Polynesian.

We're staying at AoA again in August.

When my youngest is older on our next trip I want to Try Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We stayed at Riverside in December and if you get a building by the bridge that crosses to the lobby it's not too bad.

We stayed at riverside years ago for all of 3 hours.... we were about 10 minute walk from lobby.... then there was like 5 stops on the bus.. just not for us... didn't really like being so far away from everything... Some ppl may like this... We didn't

Stayed there in October. We were in building 35. It's a serious walk to the front which is fine except you gotta commit. There's no walking to the front to get a drink and heading back to the room. Takes too damn long especially if you have several cups. There's 3 or 4 stops just at PO riverside just for the bus. Buses fill up. Rooms are nice. Scenery is nice. Pool was great.

It's nice because for a Disney Resort it's small and you don't get the overcrowded feeling like the All Stars give you.

(though I'm looking at a family suite at Art of Animation now)

Best bang for the buck for us was Coronado Springs Resort. We've stayed there twice.

I'd love the Polynesian but can't see spending the money.

We have also stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge quite some time ago. That was a lot of fun but it is a luxury resort, though that and Wilderness Inn are the two best values in Luxury resorts, or at least they used to be.

I have never bought DVC credits, but I was looking into it and I can get the Savanna View one bedroom lodge for the same price as the family suite at Art of Animation.

So going to try that first. I have to wait a few more months before i can attempt to get the DVC points.
