Same, and when universal opens up epic universe they are in deep shite. I just can’t understand how iger will torpedo his legacy and the big institutional investors will just sit and allow it.

Damn that was boring. I could only get through about 5 minutes. Here's how to make it fun: throw in one Lootie being chased through the swamp by a Rugaroo, who is after his beer. I'm all in on that.

Or you can get a full new orhesns experience and get car jacked before going down the big slide

Disney does not care.

After all the crash and burn crap they have had over the last couple of years, they just keep it coming

I haven't had any desire to go to Magic Kingdom in a while. The other parks are better now.

This destruction of Splash Mountain makes me even less likely to go.

I watched it my kids last night and the first thing they pointed out was the lack of a coherent story, no villain.
I went to Disney twice as a kid. I don't remember any rides with coherent stories or villains. I remember Space Mountain and Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Pirates of the Caribbean (which was half under repair) and that's about it.

I grew up with Aladdin and The Lion King. I don't remember any special rides with Jafar and Scar as villains.

ETA: And It’s a Small World ride

ETA2: I grew up with Uncle Remus stories, too, and I still couldn't tell you what the "story" of Splash Mountain was.

Aside from them just going cheap and making a shitty reskin of a classic ride. I think a Tiana ride with proper theming and environment would have been really good. It need to be a large inside water ride like pirates. Dark, crickets, cypress trees with moss, gator growls, passing through a city street area that could have also been a louisiana themed restaurant like Blue Bayou at disneyland.
They didnt do Tiana or Splash mountain any justice by slapping a swamp theme on a mountain that they threw a little greenery on but still have a ton of orange and brown rock or sand coloring ground plus the waiting area still has mountain cabins. If they were going to bend the knee at least go all in and put full effort into the new ride.

What is it one of those creepy cave rides with blacklit trannies jumping out at you? Results in about 12 deaths a year from cardiac arrest?

Splash was my favorite attraction and being totally honest, that POV made it look much better than I thought it was going to be.

The same thing was said when Harry Potter landed at US and IoA, they eventually responded with Pandora. Adding Galaxy's Edge piled it on. Volcano Bay, as much as they want to sell it as a third gate, just isn't so they've had some ground to make up for a while.

The epcot retheming has been a lenghty and costly project (that I thought was largely unnecessary) but in time they will respsond with something else like they always do.

The battle is great for guests as the competition for our dollars should result in continued improvement for decades to come. All 6 parks are better today than they were just 15 years ago and if we see the kind of development over the next 15 years that's a good thing.

From the look of the video, they'll have to wake you up before the drop.

Splash mountain has always been a long arse ride. Takes forever it seems to get to the drop.

Thats a good thing. Some of the long, slow boring rides are the best. They get you off your feet (which are usually hurting), get you out the sun and its the payoff of being in line for 30 - 45 minutes. Carousel of progress and its a small world are great for a little moment to rest.

Do people actually care about the story behind a themed ride? I just want to go down that big arse drop.

The liberal idiots do, it’s why it’s changing.

At some point, when’s enough, enough?

A Katrina themed ride would have been better.
A murky party gravy filled floating journey through looters & destruction, with the culmination being the final splash out of a large broken water main surrounded by dozens of S&WB workers standing around doing nothing.

Animatronic LaToya could be gleefully watching over the whole experience from her balcony with Vappie...

The themes/characters are what makendisney what it is (along with the pristine grounds and helpful attitude of all workers…I mean characters)
Ok

Then changing the theme here makes sense. Take away the woke angle completely. Not a single kid knew the splash mountain characters or theme. But princess and the frog was very successful and that theme known by all children

It makes sense for an update. Disney has updated plenty of other rides to more up to date characters.

You were trying to hide from Brer FOX and Brer Bear. They finally catch you and throw you into the briar patch. Bring born and bred in the Briar patch Peter rabbit escapes. Then celebrates with a song.

Actually had a story unlike most rides.

I disagree. The story of Princess and the Frog would have worked perfectly with Dr. Facilier as the villain and the final scene being the opening of Tiana's restaurant. That's the common theme in most of the comments I see about the ride. They passed up a good story and made a boring ride with an original story.

The Princess and the Frog

Is this the one that is set in New Orleans? I can 100% honestly say this is the only Disney movie.. Well other than some of the old ones.. like The Swiss Family Robertson... And are the Marvel movies considered Disney? I might have watched one after Disney bought them, but Disney honestly fricks up everything they buy. Well, maybe I am in the minority with this thinking because people do flock to watch them, but like Star Wars. Its like they have a formula. Keep the storyline simple, add some entertaining visual effects. That's a Disney movie, but the Princess and the Frog wasn't that bad. Of course I never watched Lion King or any other one of those movies.
