Princess cruises are posh, and the food is gourmet. Prime rib, king crab, lox, wheels of Stilton bleu cheese. Poors can't afford them

I went on a Viking River Cruise in Europe a few months ago. Pretty high end. The lady enjoyed it. Great dining and they go all out for the tours. I’d recommend it. It’s pricey with an upgraded room, the flight over on British Airways and two extra days. They treat you right.

I mean, what do people expect? You’re basically sticking a Golden Corral, a budget inn and a Liberty Lagoon on an oversized barge and selling spots at wal-Mart prices.
This may be the best description of the modern cruise industry. Well done.

Cruises have never appealed to me. Trapped on a ship with the huddled masses? No thanks.

Cruise ships are nasty.
Yep. Back when I was in college I used to work on the weekends at the port in NOLA where our job was to unload and load everyone's luggage from and to the cruise ship. After unloading everyone's luggage me and some friends would always ride the conveyor belt into the ship to go explore.
If people saw what we did they would def have reservations about going on another Carnival cruise. It was disgusting. Produce out of boxes just stacked up on top of each other in different corners with roaches and other bugs swarming. Garbage stacked up with bags leaking which was very near the produce and other dry foods they had stored. Smelled like I was standing inside of a dumpster. It was awful.
Maybe Carnival has cleaned up it's act since then but I highly doubt it.

Idt it's a place for kids. However, to get shitty drunk for 5 days and visit a couple of cool destinations on the cheap doesn't sound terrible. I've only been as a single man yrs ago and I had a bon temp. Trashy I know....

My wife and I did a ten day Hawaiian cruise on Norwegian and it was great.

Fine example of selecting photos to create a bias.

The only cruise I've ever been on was an oceania cruise in the Med. It was great. Instead of a floating trailer park it was more like a floating country club.

thats such a shitty comparison. 2 completely different areas.
Yeah, they are all shitty comparisons. Look at the one of the two cruise ships and their pool decks. One aboard one of the smaller cruise ships in the world and another is on one of Royal Caribbean’s oasis class ships which is one of the largest in the world.
It would be the equivalent of explaining college football in two photos..one being Tulanes stadium on a Saturday night and one being Death Valley

I get that it’s an easily accessible and affordable way to travel. It’s convenient because you don’t have to do any work or have any traveling experience to map out.
I have no interest, and prefer to plan my own experiences.
Because they appeal to the masses they do attract a certain crowd only found in places like a DMV.
It’s pretty obvious in town where I live as to who just got off the cruise ship. Since more than 30 of them dock here a month I get to see lots of passengers.

what you didnt get to see is the crawl spaces where the crew lives...some would give a Stephen King novel a run for its money

I'm going on a trashy cruise with 5 others next month. I've never been on one before. It wasn't my choice but I will make the best of it and I expect to have a good time.
