Yes.
Shitty pencils with erasers that didn't actually erase. They just smudged it.
Honestly didn't even matter since the paper we bought was so Damn rough, you'd tear through it if you wrote too hard.

We were poor so my uncle would buy our school supplies and thank goodness he did. That 64 box crayola with sharpener might have been the only name brand thing I owned.

I started school in 1943; WW II was in full force. Rationing pretty Well dictated what supplies you got/could get. Not much variation.)

We got what was on sale. I distinctly remember that musliage crap she would get instead of while glue.

We didn’t have off brand school supplies back in my day.

Only the best for us...

Check Cola
Went on a class field trip and we had to pack our lunch. I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. We also needed a small handheld cooler/ice chest to keep it cold since we were gone the entire day.
We were poor and didn't have one so I had to borrow my uncle's. He had "T-JOHN" written all over that thing. My mom also packed me the Mark Martin sponsored Chek Cola. I got teased the entire day.

Name brand everything.

No but I didn’t get the long box with sharpener. Which granted its stupid because all you do is donate it to the class.

Shasta black Cherry all day. Wrapped in paper towel and foil to keep it cold for lunch.
My mom did this with a Coke or Pepsi in high school and college. She'd even pop it in the freezer for an hour before I left for school in the mornings.
We were poor folks but I was a spoiled kid when it came to stuff my mom would do for me, the baby of three boys.
My mom packed my lunches from about 3rd-12th grade and even at LSU during semesters when I wouldn't come home for lunch.
I was spoiled for sure but I never once took it for granted. My mama loves me. She's making us all breakfast tomorrow.
:csb: but you triggered a fond memory of the wrapped cold drinks.

I always wanted to take pickles but the plastic bags back then sucked arse and it would ruin your lunchbox
Posted on 12/10/22 at 4:51 pm to UndercoverBryologist
Yeah because she wasn't going to pay more for something that I would end up breaking or losing. That was her words, but I really don't care about the supplies. I use used whatever she bought on sale.
The only thing I cared about was that my #2 pencil stayed sharpened.

Yep but I did have a cool trapper keeper so it equalized out the other generic school supplies.
I also had a charlotte hornets starter jacket with Nikes and girbaud pants.

The worst was popping that Check Cola at lunch. Humiliation
How about when it’s your turn to bring drinks for the baseball team on game day, and you’re broken ice chest has Autocrat Cola. That was the generic brand from the old Warehouse Foods. Even the coach gave me shite for the rest of the season and called me Autocrat thereafter!
