Yep. We had an 88 Camry that had those...
They stopped making those after people started getting decapitated by failing to use the lap belt that you still had to manually operate.
I remember a buddy with a pos Ford Escort, for which you had to bang on the dash to make the seatbelt move into position every time you got in the car.

Grew up in the 70's, didn't even know the autos had seat belts. Hell, people would openly drink beer while driving and had a holder for the can on the dashboard.

Never wore them until i got older. Parents would also throw any trash out the window like it was the norm.

No. I started wearing them in about 1995.
Drank beer regularly while driving till about 2000.
I remember my grandfather cutting them out of a brand new ‘64 Chevrolet Impala because they were in the way.

No I spent half my passenger life laying across a back seat or on the wheel well of a pickup.

The ones I remember would hook in to the area between the window glass and the door. They'd look sort of like this, but they were always white, as I recall.

My brother was born in '75. To get him home from the hospital they set him in the back seat footwell on the passenger side.

Our 69 Buick Wildcat was the first car we owned that had them. That thing had a 430 cu. in. V8. We wore them. The 63 Falcon wagon we had before that didn't have them.

I remember those.
I used to put my beer between my legs while driving. They didn’t last long,as I drank them pretty fast in those days. A six pack never got hot.

My dad had a can ring stain on his Monte Carlo seat because he always had a beer between his legs. It just wasn't all that taboo back then.

No, my Grandfather used to cut them out of his truck. I remember sleeping in the back window of my Grandmother's 74 Ford LTD. That thing was a Star Cruiser in size.

No baw. My mom used her arm to stop us if necessary
Posted on 3/4/20 at 1:32 pm to ThuperThumpin
Grew up in the same era and mom was vigilant about us wearing seat belts. Dad didn't care.
Mom was so vigilant she wouldn't let me ride in my friend's dad's car because it didn't have seat belts in the back seat.

Seat belts were something we buckled behind us to stop that horrible buzzing sound. Nothing more.

Yes, remember those and we had those in our car. My father had the 'bean bag' holder for the truck dashboard

My 1990 MX 6 had those. I didn't mind them at all.
They were made like this.
It was just the shoulder strap. You still had to fasten your own lap belt. You can see it down next to the seat.
For years, the lap belt was all cars had. It was really hard for a cop to see if you were wearing that. Basically had to be stopped first, for them to see it wasn't fastened.
