Same with me. Which is weird, because I thought the reason I never got hangovers is because I don’t get anywhere near blackout. I’m always in good control. But even 3-4 drinks nowadays could make the following day miserable. Think it comes down to getting enough sleep.

People seem to fall on one side of the fence or the other on this issue. Either, drinking is for losers or if you don't drink you're gay. They seem to feel really strongly one way or the other.

I drink on weekends. I don't give a shite what anyone else does or thinks about my drinking.

The anxiety feeling can come from excessive or over drinking. If you drink 4 or 5 days out of the week, this can happen.

I truly hate to say this, but abstinence from alcohol usually produces very positive results after a couple of months or so…

If you are drinking as much in your 40's as you did in you're 20's you might have a problem.

I drink a few beers now but as soon as hit beer 3 or 4 I start hydrating with water. Nothing worse than waking up the next day and feeling like a turd in the toilet. Just useless

you ar e using all your dopamine when you drink and it puts you in a sad depressive state the next day. My guess is that as yu age maybe you aren't producing as much dopamine as you used to so the well runs dry. You may also just have more real life anxiety that you can repress on a day to day but in your weakened hung over state it comes to the forefront.

This sounds smart.

I'll partake on occasion but drinking and getting hungover was no longer fun so I just stopped.

And Ive found, the older I get, I can have all the fun I need without getting all the way drunk.

Drinking is a good thing, IMO. Drunkenness is not.

I not only have anxiety, but retain fluids for three days after. I quit drinking. Not worth it.

Terrible depression and anxiety now. I am mostly OK after a little beer or wine. Not liquor, though.

Alcohol disrupts neurotransmitters, contributing to anxiety. It may be compounded by other factors such as low-T, being scared of things that will never occur, small penis, or mid-life crisis.

Yes. Mine hit in mid 30s

I rarely ever drink to excess anymore because of it. It came out of nowhere as well. Next morning would be pounding heart, palpitations, etc. Not worth it

Yes. Sometime in my mid-40s drinking too much went from having a slightly sick feeling with a small headache (kinda like a mild flu) to creating this crushing feeling of dread. And it got worse over time to the point of it starting while still drinking.

It is clearly 100% ties to alcohol consumption. It really killed the enjoyment of beer. I rarely drink now because of it. It’s not fun. It’s soul crushing. And I hate it because I do (or used to) love beer. And the occasional glass of wine. And the rare Irish whiskey.

It's normal. As you get older your body doesn't recover as quickly. That's the aging process. You won't heal from injuries as quickly, etc.

This will become more noticeable the older you get.

Along with depression.

I'm on drugs now.
