This wasn't the frick up.
Not trading her holes for the repair bill was your biggest mistake.

glad you pointed that out, the only thing to make it better was if he had a cop uniform

It sounds like the vehicle is totaled. The drunk girls family’s insurance might require you to get a police report to proceed forward with cutting you a check. You definitely saved that girl from going to jail that night.

So you were being a nice guy to the young girl so she wouldn’t get a DUI. Nice job. Gonna cost you money
I doubt it costs him any money. Either the driver is adequately insured or she isn't.
If not, he's going to get fricked one way or another. If so, I doubt it's much of a hassle other than the inherent hassle of getting your vehicle fixed.

Yes, multiple witnesses including the neighbors and the tow truck dude. We are just hoping their insurance co. doesn't have a problem with the fact a police report wasn't made.
In Alabama there is no requirement for a police report if the accident happens on private property. Not sure about where you are.

that's where the police report would be yuuuge
Dude. Really not trying to be a dick here. But if they don’t have insurance or money, how is a police report going to help?
You can get punis for “injuries” under Louisiana law if the driver was drunk, but no one was in the parked car?
Here’s my problem with “always get a police report.” There’s a rear ender on the interstate. Traffic snarls behind it while two people stand out in the rain. There is a scratch on the rear bumper of the front car. That’s it.
Liability is certain, and both these assholes have phones to take pictures and insurance. But everyone waits while they get a report that wastes everyone’s time and makes absolutely zero difference.

The last wreck I got into I didn't even bother with the police. Pictures and an insurance claim did it. The police in Houston won't bother to show up for a fender bender.

So at least post a few pics of the damage.

Yep, if that were my daughter, I would be very thankful that OP let me handle this without getting the police involved.
He 100% did the right thing by not forcing a lesson to be learned upon this girl.

in your post you said "unless they have money" iirc, probably would be insured if they did but if they had assets but no insurance a police report would be big, especially if the girl was legally drunk, even, and especially if they had to go to their own insurance company to file a claim a police report in this scenario would of great benefit, been through a couple of these, first thing insurance companies and attorneys ask is did you get a police report, they tend to groan and grimace if the answer is no, and always advise that you please do so in the future

different scenario, most interstates that I drive on have signage saying something to the effect or "remove accident vehicles from driving lanes" or something like that, not trying to start an argument, just going on past, personal experience

Not much at all. Car was literally parked, not moving. Not a question of fault, only damage. And vehicle damage is easier to quantify than bodily. Easy case. Doesn't even require a lawyer.

What were the signs of impairment that you observed?
Posted on 7/4/22 at 12:49 pm to Naked Bootleg
Yeah that rear tire/axle is fricked

Make her take your son on a date and have him lecture her About how she will never get a good man with decisions like that.

You should be good with camera footage, neighbor and parents coming over. Hard to deny that. Police could have written an actual report since she was driving and coming off the roadway, but no biggie.
