did anyone's HS do a Project Graduation lock in after the ceremony?

In an attempt to keep kids safe on the night of graduation, Slidell area High Schools did a lock in called project graduation.
They rented out the community gymnasium and filled it with all kinds of carnival games, bounce houses, jousting, rock climb, karaoke limbo, etc for an all night party.
They gave away all kinds of prizes needed for college up to and including a car (it was a Chevy Aveo, but still...)
It was definitely lamer than grad night, but in hindsight it was a really good idea to keep kids from going out and killing themselves on the night of graduation. I'd say about 80% of the class attended.

Yes. I remember drinking a pint of whiskey before the ceremony even started. Another before we walked in the lock-in. It was alright.

Yes, it was a pretty good time.

It’s a good cause. Let’s keep these kids alive so they can deal with the same crap the rest of us have to as we get older.

We went to a night club which was supposed to be boozeless that night. A priest chaperone helped us get bottles of whiskey out of our cars and brought them in for those of us who dared to ask.

We did. Bunch of parents got together and put it on. Served beer. Had to stay until the next morning. It was a great time. It was a tradition at the school.

My high school hosted a party. There was drinking. Half the parents and some of the teachers were smashed.
But none of us were driving home or going to other parties.

Yes. We went to an arcade from like 10pm-3am and had unlimited plays on all of the games. The tickets you won on the games were used for pretty good raffle prizes.
It was actually an awesome night. Everyone had a blast.

Yeah. Locked into the school. Games. A gambling room. Tons of pizza. It worked. Sure some snuck in booze or substances.
Again, it worked. Keeps everyone alive on graduation night. Our tradition was always to head to the beach. Everyone is sober and exhausted after the lock in. So you get a safe night and a day because everyone sleeps.
Wake up and make the pilgrimage to the beach and become Galveston counties problem.

I helped Chaperone one for Pope John Paul II back in the 90s.

Yes, all St Bernard Parish high schools participated. It made it easier for us to write all over CHS student’s car windows with shoe polish while they were locked in. Lol

Denham does it but it started after I graduated

My high school did a lock in, with most of the activities others have listed. I'd say nearly all of my graduating class (~500) was there.
The highlight was when they brought in a hypnotist. I was skeptical of hypnosis but there is no way what I saw was faked. Honestly might be the hardest I've ever laughed in my life.

Yeah. Dunham brought us to New Orleans to go hang out on a river boat and then we went to laser tag until the crack of dawn. I was drunk, they didn't know, I didn't care.

They did a casino night lock in for our graduating class too. It was billed as a last hurrah before we all went our separate ways. I had no idea they're ulterior motive was to keep everyone alive but it makes sense.

I think one of the local baptist churches had something like that. I don’t know anyone that went though. That may have been for prom. Been a long time.

My hometown had the worlds largest Mr Gattis arcade (think chucky cheese buffet but no creepy mouse) and they turned all the games on free mode and had pizza all night.
For the time it was pretty dope, but I didn’t drink till my late 20s.
Most people had their parties the following weekend with parents chaperoning.
