The worst part about being addicted to drugs or alcohol is sobering up and then you have to either be super into gambling or religion.

I've never had an addiction those who know me know I don't drink never did drugs until after the stroke, and now I indulge in a gummy on occasion I don't gamble Never really have done that either I mean, played poker with friends and been to Vegas but always knew when to stop.. but i know im a sinner
And I have faith, which is much more significant than religion so you can mock it as a weakness but those who have faith have found a strength much greater than them
Folks eventually realize that the god that is most often put ahead of God
is self

Yes! Went almost every Sunday growing up but never paid all that much attention. Started getting more serious about 3 years ago, all uphill since

A good church will always make your life better

No. Never been dumb or weak enough to do something that would take me down to "rock bottom".

Not me but I had several friends that has gone through this. AA is based on religion and those friends were all Catholic. Congrats man. One day at a time.
All glory to God.

Unlike others, I will not denigrate any particular church or Christian denomination
because if it brings you closer to God, if a real relationship with God through Christ is developed, that's positive
but be wary of a lot of false teachings and false preachings in churches that are popular and make you feel good. That's by design, these fake churches with popular music and all sorts of activities and things that feed dopamine That's not a deep relationship with the word
"prophets" motivated by profits only drain your soul and your wallet

im not mocking anyone. well maybe the people that gamble. but if religion is what someone needs to stay off dope and booze, then they should be religious. whatever works for someone to stay sober is good.

And you may not have been mocking anyone I apologize if you felt there was an accusation but I stressed that while religion has its benefits its faith developing a faith that will not only save you from addiction of one sort or another But will save your eternal soul

Very true. Walking in the path of Christ is the way. I just wish I didn't veer off so much.

I went to the home of grace after hitting rock bottom and rolling around down there for awhile. While life isn’t perfect, it taught me how to confront things better.

When you give it all to God, it is truly amazing!

*raises hand*
Booze was mine. Just back mine up to July 2020. No divorce though. She's stood by me as I recovered.

I did but I’m still waiting for the glow up. It never happened yet. I’m still stuck in the gutter.
