You’re better off getting a nice sapphire/ruby/emerald. They hold their value better than a diamond long term.
But you’ll never convince her of that

Are lab diamonds marked in any way? Asking for a husband.
If it’s GIA/IGI certified, the certificate will indicate lab origin.

They have "LG" in front of the usual laser engraving that many diamonds, natural and lab grown, have.
quote:
Diamond laser inscription is done by lightly etching numbers, letters, and even artwork on the girdle of the diamond with a very small and precise laser beam. The laser inscription is seen using a jeweler's loupe but is not visible to the human eye and has no effect on the diamond's quality or light performance.
Also, an interesting graph. Lab generated sales have taken off in the past few years.

Nobody is coming close to paying 14K for a 2.5 ct lab grown.

Maybe in 2021, but those prices are insane in 2024. James Allen & Brilliant Earth also grossly overprice their lab stones. They all pull from the same virtual stock. You can often find the same stone (per GIA report number) for soooo much less on other sites.

Those prices are dropping quickly

How educated are the OT baws about the intentional PR campaign and market manipulation by De Beers ….?
How educated is the OT?
—2 completely different questions

UPDATE: Lot's of engagement here but none of the baws want to admit they've been duped related to climate change PR campaigns...funny
You sound like the type of person who really believes someone on the OT invented fire.

PSA to anybody shopping for natural or lab stones: use an aggregator like this site to shop around. The same stone will cost twice as much at one of the major retailers as it does online. You can buy your stone & have it set locally. On no planet should you be paying $1,600 for a 1 carat lab diamond anymore. This is a reputable site to comparison shop, and includes “cut scores” to rate how much the stone will sparkle.

Why would you pay 2X as much for the something that is the same?
Why eat real meat if lab grown meat is the same molecular structure, texture, and taste?

This is well known to anyone not living under a rock (pardon the pun). De Beers and OPEC are two of the last legalized cartels.

The diamond PR campaign is second only to the 30A sticker campaign

No, but I don't like lab made diamonds, lab meat meat, replica watches, etc.
There is clearly a market for those that want them.

Mine didn’t even bat an eye. She really isn’t impressed with experience things so I believe her. I have a plan that will make it very sentimental and the ring will still be very meaningful to her.
It’s her 2nd marriage, my first and we’re both in our 40’s. We’ve discussed the type of ceremony we’d have and that won’t put me in the poor house either.
