I've stood within a few feet of water moccasins many, many times, and none of them have ever come at me. Most of them just sit there.

but the threat also increases greatly during the act of getting close enough to it to kill it with a shovel. Also, killing one or even a few doesn't put a dent into the population that is in the general area. As long as there are food resources in the area, a healthy population will remain. Best thing to do is to just shoo it away with a water hose.
Dude, you are right. Don’t argue with these people who have to kill everything they are scared of.
Killing all the snakes and having a population boom of rats has always worked out great for humanity. Next they’ll want to kill all the sharks.

No…you haven’t.
A snake came in your general direction while trying to get away from you.

I don't know who he is nor do I care. To "akshually" an event in someone else's life is stupid asf.

What an odd and inappropriate thing to say.

Spent quite a bit of time there and never saw one. Hot damn.

See, now this is why I don’t go to the beach! Snakes…. Lotsa snakes!

I was, perhaps clumsily, trying to make the point that rattlesnakes close to a beach ingress path can be extremely dangerous, no matter how cute they look to you.
Sure maybe the one you saw had just eaten and was lethargic. It might not be that way tomorrow, and it may be closer to the path, and more hidden.
I personally would remove (kill with extreme prejudice) any rattlesnake that I saw anywhere near a beach ingress path.
My kids and grandkids are going to be walking that path.
That's cool; except that it's a federal crime to kill an animal in a national park.
We went camping there every spring when I was a kid; I think I've seen a rattlesnake near a trail twice. And both times, as soon as it was spotted; a ranger came to keep an eye on it until it moved on. Funny thing is that right near where these pics were taken, there is an area that's fenced off. We were always told us that it was a rattle snake den that's why it was fenced off. (Probably the best way to keep us from trying to sneak in.)

I've been chased by snakes on multiple occasions. The "something stupid" is thinking that a poisonous snake is no threat to you. "Bitch, you knew I was a snake." All the spicy ones get the shovel treatment.
For what it is worth to you, the overwhelming majority of snakebites occur when people are trying to kill, move, or otherwise dick with a snake.

Whoa, that's a cool video. That channel has some amazing footage. Thanks for sharing.

Incredible footage, thanks.
I just used a shovel.

I’ve caught literally hundreds of cottonmouths, as well as hundreds of rattlesnakes. It’s funny how snakes never chase guys who are knowledgeable about snakes - even when we try to entice them to do so. They only chase people who are inexperienced with snakes, and no one ever gets it on camera. Snakes chasing people are about as real as bigfoot.

Good for you. I'm not the fricking crocodile hunter jumping on top of shite that can kill me. You literally just said that snakes chase people. So which is it? Snakes chase people or they didn't chase me because you said so? I reiterate, you weren't there, so you should pipe down.
