Two freaking Hurricanes and a downsey Governor pretty much sums it up.

Busy! I put more life insurance inforce in the last two months than my company did in the previous 19. I just do the paperwork but it was a lot of 12+ hour days. But got a great bonus and raise yesterday.
Had some fun times mixed in. Went to Asheville, BR twice, Minneapolis twice, Canby, MN, Nola and did a staycation here in Knoxville.
Watched my kid grow into the coolest/most annoying toddler.
Its been a great year TBH.

Worked a project in Malaysia all year. My schedule was to work 12 weeks there and then come home for 2 weeks. My first leave trip was late March and then the country locked down. 50 weeks later I came home and saw my family. Been a long year.
On the bright side I am employed and making more money than I ever have. Hoping to go back for about 6 weeks to finish the project assuming the Malaysian government gives me permission.

Started a new job in February right before the world went to shite.
Largely unaffected by the 'rona and the protests and everything else.
Really wasn't a bad year, personally.

Outside of it being a presidential election year with social unrest and a pandemic that enhanced all of the bullshite, on a personal level it was uneventful.
In January I couldn't wait to go see Dave Chappelle & Joe Rogan in New Orleans in April, that got cancelled.
I was looking forward to going to Las Vegas in August to see George Strait, which got cancelled.
There were no sports for about 3 months and then when the sports world did start opening back up, as big of a sports fan as I am, it all felt like a snell of itself.
I didn't think not having a crowd would matter to me, but it did. The crowd is such a big factor in football and basketball, but thats a whole different topic within itself.
You couldn't just up and decide to go somewhere, then finally at least restaurants opened up, but even then they were not open to full capacity.
But on the other hand it made me sort of appreciate things.. And realize how much we take for granted so it was a bit of a reality check. But for me, I would describe it in one word.. Uneventful.

Great year. Bought some land. Building a new house. Had the best financial year of my life.

Most money I ever made in my life but it came at the expense of the most stressed and anxiety issues I’ve ever had in my life. Covid was great for business but I was constantly walking on eggshells. Waiting for an employee to call in sick with Covid. I had one person get hurt on the job and may never be able to work again. I had someone quit without notice because they didn’t want to take a drug screen. Even last night I had an employee call and said they weren’t feeling good but was fine and went to work this morning. Then you have the hurricanes.
But in all we survived. I have a wonderful wife and 2 daughters to come home to everyday and helps me keep my sanity. And blessed to have them.

2020 wasn't that awful of a year for me. While I'm in the Navy, I'm currently on shore duty and was considered non-essential during the initial lock downs. So from March 21, 2020 to July 6, 2020, I sheltered in place at my apartment in Alexandria, VA. I binged a ton of Netflix shows and got into a pretty good exercise routine that saw me lose right around 30 pounds before it was all said and done. I'd go into the building where I work every so often to help sanitize the spaces. Beyond that...I didn't do too much during the lock down phase. From July to October, we operated on a two week on, two week off schedule at work. We attempted to go back to work full time starting at the end of October, but that was over and done with by Thanksgiving weekend.

Tornado (two friends killed) derecho, pandemic, bombing...yay Nashville! Personally, FIL diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, car smashed in parking lot in April, credit card stolen which was a pain in the arse, broke my arm, schools closed...
Amazingly, we both still have jobs. We are frugal and paid off our house a few years ago so that has been a huge stress relief.

Income down around 15% which stings but still doing pretty well. Closer than ever to my wife and daughter. Started a weekly jam session online with friends of 30+ years. At 52, all that has happened has helped me appreciate that my relationships with my family and friends are all that really matter.

Despite it all, came through with flying colors. Wife’s starting a new gig in January, kids are doing fantastic, and I’m 100% cancer-free and rocking and rolling

Only earned through March, all my savings gone, a good chunk of personal possession lost when I was forced to sell my home but could not moves things from my house ...Financially I'm at maybe 20% of where I was a year ago and losing $$ each week for living expense
you could say it was a stroke of bad luck
