Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson is suing the city of Baton Rouge over his arrest last month at a protest of a black man fatally shot during a struggle with two white police officers.
Mckesson was among nearly 200 protesters arrested in Baton Rouge following the July 5 shooting death of 37-year-old Alton Sterling.
A class-action lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court on behalf of Mckesson and two other arrested protesters, accuses the city and police officials of violating their civil rights and using excessive force.

Early prediction: The lawyers will settle for some kind of statement from BRPD that it could have been handled differently to make the "victims" feel better...
And $23 million for the attorneys. Isn't that how those class actions generally work?

I would have done the same thing. The charge the protestors recieved was laughable, thats why they were dropped. Also numerous witnesses said they were mistreated in the jail, which is very believable. Police are just revenue collectors, and I would be happy to get some of the money back that I "invested" into the community.

does this really surprise anyone?
It will be interesting considering he was arrested, but not charged.

He was warned not to protest on Airline, then he stepped out into the street in front of police officers.
He earned those cuffs.

Obstruction of commerce.
Happens when you block a street to protest in front of cops. Protesting is not illegal. Blocking traffic is.
