Why imply or act like it's either or? Have you seen anyone, anywhere not "blame" the suspects?
Well for starters the defense attorney has placed the blame multiple times on the bar saying none of this would have happened if they could not drink. I understand most people realize that the rapists are 100% at fault but by over discussing the liability of the bar we are shifting the focus in the exact way the defense is hoping for.

The truth of what happened that night will almost assuredly align somewhere in the middle. It's likely the girl, on her own accord, got completely wasted at the bar that night without any nefarious influence from the boys. I know personally I was not the most responsible person when it came to drinking/partying at 18. For their part, the boys probably interacted with the girl with no real outward signs of nefarious intent. At least initially. Then they took advantage of her altered state. They then dropped her off thinking the night was over with certainly no intent for her to end up being killed. But also no real regard for her wellbeing either. Yet, a series of horrible decisions from beginning to end have led to the loss of one life, and the likelihood of many others being significantly ruined.
You sure are giving rapists and potential murderers every benefit of the doubt possible.

Why Jody why?
I have no idea why you decided to high jack the board and waste several hours of our time harping over some unfortunate Uber driver?
How about you answer the question...I feel you owe everyone an explanation.

i'd be willing to bet that there are people in this thread who are actively seeking it out on the internet...pathetic...

The bars responsibility may come into play in a civil case, but doesn't matter here. I don't know why people keep trying to muddy this water.

Most damning piece (well, all of it was) from the affidavit (see page 1 of this thread) was when asked where she lived she couldn't answer them. She slumped over half passed out.
So what did they do? Drove 2 minutes to park and rape her.
They knew she lacked capacity but did it anyway.
Agreed. When I read that, I thought that was the nail in their coffin.

It seems easy enough for LSU to run continuous buses to/from Tigerland past the apartments down Burbank/Nicholson and through campus by the dorms and fraternity houses. These buses and routes exist anyway, just not at night.
They did this as recently as a few years ago. I was unaware it was not still done.

My thoughts are also with the driver of the rideshare right now. I hope he's ok and knows that a lot of us have included him in our prayers and wish him well and a full recovery from the trauma he undoubtedly feels. So many people are affected by this.

The blackout drunk part is certainly disturbing, but I have no issue with people 18 and above drinking in a bar, legal or not.
That was the drinking age for probably the majority of the residents of Louisiana when they were that age. It's also equal or greater than the drinking age in much of the world.
I don't think a bullshite arbitrary law should define morality.
No bar should serve customers to the point of passing out. But we don't know exactly what happened in the bar, if other people were giving her drinks, etc.
This should not be the focus of this thread, however.

Jody, you're a fricking tard if you think the investigation of the accident is of no discussion point. There are numerous things that are part of a routine investigation especially when it ends up with a 19 yr old dead in the middle of a highway. If you want to be a tard like the others in the mob bitching over questions about his speed and being an uber driver possibly distracted driving at 2:50 am go ahead. But honestly, you are the one bringing this subject back up. I'm more than willing to talk about any angle of this story you want. You yourself didn't know shite frick the possibility of raining neither. And i don't think anyone else knew as well. Either way, it raining and the rate of speed he was driving at could come into question as well.
eta: How about you start with the ability to ask a question for starters.

No, I would like you to tell me exactly what you would have liked to hear from the lsu president
I would like to see a track record of frequently calling out the local police and the mayor for the crime and the way the city is run. Not just about this incident.
A city is made up of its citizens, businesses and institutions, like LSU.
As it's purported leader, the LSU president has every right and responsibility to criticize and expect change from the city where is institution resides.
Yet, somehow this is thought of as out of bounds.
If an Exxon or OLOL employee was killed, would we be shocked if their CEO or local management spoke out in a critical manner?

And furthermore has anyone seen this “video” does it really exist?
The DA saw a video and upped the charges to 1st degree rape.
The defense attorney saw a video and said "it was a tragedy but definitely not a crime."

Not an expert since I have zero rape charges in my over 40 yrs of life, but how does an 18 yr old have TWO and still felt empowered to continue?
Epic failure of those we trust to hold predators accountable.

Had Brooks died of alcohol poisoning, the crusade against the bar makes infinitely more sense.
Yea, it's all cool since she DIDN"T die OF alcohol poisoning.
And we don't know if she would've, had she not been hit by a car. She could've been breaking down from the alcohol at that point.
I think all the focus on the bar is misguided at this point, but they certainly bear some level of responsibility. How much is debatable.
