I was mocking him, because he's more interested in blaming alcohol abuse than rape.
Abusing alcohol is stupid alone and dangerous in public.
Rape is a crime, and a particularly vicious one.
Which one is more important as it pertains to this case?

This is why I was asking. The memorial isn’t necessarily close to Pelican Lakes. And Pelican Lakes sits pretty far off the road. If she was dropped off in the neighborhood, she had to have walked a bit of a distance to get to Burbank
My hunch she dropped off just inside pelican pkwy. Very short walk onto highway. Accident occurred probably within very few minutes after she was dumped out for whatever reason.

For those of us not familiar with the area...
One of the articles gives the two streets of the intersection where she died. Can anyone describe the neighborhood/street where she was dropped off?
google streets / maps, aerial images with the address
click on aerial and expand the screen map
here ya go

My message was clear: when YOU choose to make bad choices bad things can happen and often do.
Obviously this story is worst case scenario and terrible sad ending to this young ladies life.
So you hear this story, and this is the take you decide to share with your daughters?

Absolutely
What would be your message to your kids?

Maybe first a message about why the Justice system is important, why strict punishment including life sentences and death penalties are necessary, explain that there are plenty of evil people in the world, and then, talk about taking care of yourself and watching your surroundings at all times.

Did she live off campus or in the sorority house? Asked earlier if anyone knew where she lived.

Does anyone know if where the memorial placed on the side is where she was actually hit? I keep reading it was by Pelican Lakes but the memorial is set up across the street near University Villas.
There are actually two different memorials on Burbank. One is located across from University Villas on the eastbound side, and the other is located near the entrance to the Meadowland Crossing condos, on the westbound side.
The entrance to Pelican Lakes is like 800 feet down Burbank from where the one by Meadowland Crossing is located, albeit on the opposite side of Burbank. The one by University Villas is on the same side as the Pelican Lakes subdivision, but further down Burbank.
I’m not sure which memorial was placed for Madison Brooks. I think the one by Meadowland Crossing looks newer, but could be wrong.
The affidavit only says that (according to one of the defendants) she was dropped off “in a subdivision.” It doesn’t specify which subdivision. From what I can tell the talk about Pelican Lakes stems from initial news reports that the accident happened “on Burbank near Pelican Lakes subdivision.” Theoretically either location could fit that bill from a news reporting standpoint.
It’s also entirely possible that they dropped her off in (or near) any of those subdivisions between Lakeside Daiquiris and Staring Lane.

You do realize that she was on video in the bar "hugging and dancing" with the 17 year old shortly after 10PM.
This isn’t an invitation for what happened. A lot of folks on this site are really showing their true colors in this thread. I talk shite and troll folks from time to time and am somewhat of an a-hole, but some of y’all make me look like a damn saint.

I talked with my daughter about it because a childhood friend was very good friends with Madison.
She already knew stuff as fast as Tigerdroppings did. Which is rare.
I told her basically that when being in those types of places you need to keep your head about you. That there were some sick people out there. That you should always stay with a friend.
Then brought up that this could happen anywhere.
We then talked about if she knew any more details but she did not (she knew everything we knew)
I guess it really served as a reminder/wake up call. Not looking forward to worrying as a parent about a college age kid in a couple years.

Suffice it to say this "expert" has not read Louisiana bail law or ignored it. Draw your own conclusions.
It seems like they have an agenda. That’s my conclusion.

Yeah they don’t have any standing on that. Louisiana dram shop law prevents any damages suffered once they leave the bar. Would have to prove the events started at the bar. Only if there’s a kidnapping charge then they could say the crime started at the bar parking lot.
That only applies if the person they served is of lawful age, which isn’t the case here. They have no immunity.
The law
quote:
Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, no person holding a permit under either Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, nor any agent, servant, or employee of such a person, who sells or serves intoxicating beverages of either high or low alcoholic content to a person over the age for the lawful purchase thereof, shall be liable to such person or to any other person or to the estate, successors, or survivors of either for any injury suffered off the premises, including wrongful death and property damage, because of the intoxication of the person to whom the intoxicating beverages were sold or served.

What's even more sick is they probably have ZERO remorse. Vile disgusting filth all over this city, state and country right now.
