Is it possible that the front coming in from Texas will make it turn east and hit in Vermillion Bay like the earlier forecasts said?

Yep official forecast from NHC has shifted a bit further west. Now close to Lake Charles, still to its East by 15-20 miles but closer there than to Lafayette now. . By the way intensity wise it is definitely not doing anything fast. It’s entirely possible she is topped out now. Could make landfall as low end 2 but possibly a 1.

I don’t think this one will be near as bad, honestly. There’s really not much left to destroy around here. Just hope my roof stays in tact being that it’s already damaged. I also am dreading being without power for an extended period of time again. My ceiling in my living room probably can’t take much more.
This will be a knockout blow for a lot of people. People are going to leave and they’re not going to come back.

wait was it giving y’all that copyright message the whole time? Earlier it was showing the picture for me right after I posted but maybe it was cached in my browser or something.
I was trying to figure out what he meant by give it up
I’ll just screenshot it in the future and throw in a website link with it.

I’m in Iowa and got lucky with no water damage. Not really expecting to get so lucky again with an already compromised roof.

Woke up this morning to see is still only 90 mph and a cat 1. May get lucky with this one. Pressure only at 973mb.

2020 will be remembered as a shite on top of shite year and multiply that 1oo times for the peeps in your area. I will send you a case of your favorite adult beverage if the electricity is out for over a week your area.

This was said after Rita but it didn’t seem like that many left.
All I know is if the current track verifies, State Farm is absolutely paying for a new fricking roof. No way I’m letting them off the hook with 2 big hurricanes in one season.

How strong are they predicting it to be at landfall now?
Posted on 10/8/20 at 4:43 am to RiseUpATL
quote:. Yeah- seems to have leveled off. I don’t think it’s going to intensify much more if at all- and then will be weakening before landfall- cat 1 coming ashore.is my guess.

quote:understood- but it seems to have stopped intensifying- waters not that hot ahead of it, it certainly possible it holds steady now and then weakens to a one before landfall. The last several advisorIes from the NHC has reduced its ceiling.
It's a Cat 2 right now with a LOT of warm water ahead of it before it reaches the cool water shelf as it approaches landfall.
