Anyone else get the feeling that a lot of Nola ppl aren’t going to give two shits about storms next season?
Just bc we got incredibly lucky this year all we’ll hear next year is “Nah every storm is going to go West like 2020 we won’t get a drop”. Or is everyone’s attention spans so short we’ll panic 5 days out like we always do?

I don’t think this one will be near as bad, honestly. There’s really not much left to destroy around here.
it's just about the debris, tarped roofs, etc.
if we never had Laura, i wouldn't even leave for this

This will be a knockout blow for a lot of people. People are going to leave and they’re not going to come back.
that is my much bigger concern. the long-term impacts

My brother lives about a mile south of the casinos in Lake Charles. They have debris piled up on both sides of the road like a third world country. I can’t even imagine what this storm is going to do to all of that.

Good luck SWLA. I was hoping for an eastward nudge or two to get LC out of the way but that isn't looking to happen.

I’m staying slow. You can come crash on the floor in the beautiful hamlet of Starks. Most of the trees are already gone so that’s a plus.

I hope this thing dissipates the frick out before landfall so somebody can post the lawn chair meme. Never forget. My luck sucks so bad that won’t happen.

we are lucky that the trash truck came twice pretty early on. i got all of the debris in my yard cleared up almost 2 weeks ago (it took a long time but we got here early after the storm to start). the only thing left is a dead tree on the property line with my eastern neighbor (he also refused to deal with a pine tree still on his property leaning over the fenceline)
but some of my neighbors didn't get the chance to get their trash picked up at the street and there are some big piles here and there. some of that shite is going to fly. why i boarded up as best as i could.

That's not the news I wanted to wake up to

it has to be almost a 0 to avoid major issues
that storm before the front wrecked the temporary roof at the family court and flooded the building again, for instance
a lot of tarps aren't secured well and 20-30 mph gusts will take them off
i'm not sure what kind of wind is the min for affecting debris piles, but i doubt it's THAT strong
it's a fricking mess

The damn track is directly over Welsh. My mean streets must have pissed someone off at the NHC. Lol

if that thing tracks anymore west, it's going to destroy Iowa. they were hit HARD by Laura

I think we all owe the EURO an apology..

We had to pay our contractor to remove our huge pile of debris. Crowder Gulf has been woefully inept for debris removal. They haven’t even made a first pass on many of the streets around us (near downtown). It’s going to be a nightmare.

I stand by my statement yesterday. It’s pushing further west than the original models. I think it’s gonna make landfall near Cameron.

Impacts still felt in SELA?
Wind? Rain from outer bands?
Or will be in the clear??

You should have seen the crews late yesterday afternoon scrambling to throw a better roof on 14th JDC.

As a resident of Southeast Lake Charles, the best word I can muster to describe this whole ordeal is surreal. To have to pack up and leave, again, is heartbreaking. This storm shouldn't be as bad as Laura, but that doesn't make this any easier. I hope and pray all my fellow SWLA peeps make it out of this storm unscathed and safe travels if you are leaving again.

personally, i'm hoping nothing makes it through the cracks in our boarding. i also am hoping the guy who promised me he'd come this morning to fix a window that broke during Laura makes it.
on a larger level, i'm really worried about all the new power poles they just put in. hell, we finally had suddenlink on our street and my office was supposed to get back internet (again, after it went out this weekend) yesterday
