Gustav in BR

I posted this late last night but thought it was interesting enough to share again. I saw this video of someone driving down Highland Rd in BR after Gustav. I forgot how bad it really was...

Not saying anyone would lie, just that people overestimate the shite they’re actually in.

For example, assuming you were in New Orleans, none of those storms produced hurricane force sustained winds in New Orleans.

That was my point earlier, I went a little over board with the trolling though lol.

Reason I dont stay, my grandfather and grandmother road out Audrey on the top of the Cameron court house. I listened to his stories about it until the day he died....I would never want to go through that. He left cameron with the rest of his family except one cousin. Later my Aunt and uncle lived there and after Laura are leaving.

Take a shot everytime someone says Gustav in this thread and you'll be dead before Delta gets here.no worries at that point

No, he's correct, we are currently in EDT, which means right now they come out at 5 and 11 EDT. In the map they came out at 6 and 12 EDT. They went back an hour.

Were you at the WBRZ Christmas party in 2011? We probably did a shot together.

I'm out of that business now... and happier for it

I take that back... I did get "on air" once at WWL

I was the "first on the scene" of a shooting along the uptown parade route on Mardi Gras Day 1 year (2010 IIRC)... so I did a phone interview live on air and was listed by the on screen graphic as a "producer" even though at the time I was just 1 of the newbies who usually sits at the desk and did the menial tasks

Spacecityweather just posted a long update article. Very reliable no hype site with Eric Berger and Matt lanza.

They say Lake Charles area about 80% chance of sustained tropical storm winds and 30% chance of hurricane force winds on Friday. Overall they say this won't be another Laura but could still do some damage. Should be faster moving.

Praying this thing misses them. Have tons of family there still Recovering.

Back to the topic at hand...it sure looks like Delta is moving WNW still and not NW at all. Thats just based on the satellite imagery but I wonder how the NHC (which I trust completely on the forecasts) determines the exact direction. Is it based on changes in the longitude and latitude from the previous update and determine the direction from those two points?

Read the book The Last Days of Last Island

This. The author does a good job of clearing up some myths that I had heard about when I was a kid. The story could be a made into a movie.

I was in the GD for Cindy and we stayed and that shite was more than just a TS. Definitely caught us off guard.

I have some important work related stuff over the weekend in Houston. When would be good time to drive from Baton rouge? Thursday night? Avoid Fri morning to Sat afternoon?

Thanks for any suggestions
