I'm a huge true crime nerd, and this is probably my pet case. It blows my mind that they have made so little progress.

It could be a nutcase who decided to drive across the country to a random town and kill some people for fun
When you listen to them describe the place this happened it's pretty out of the way and not many people who weren't local or had some connection to the area would've known about it before all this.
And it was done in a way that makes you think the killer knew the area well because the spot was basically a perfect trap that didn't leave his prey any easy or quick escape path, he already had a secluded spot worked out he knew he could take his victims, and apparently had an escape route worked out where nobody noticed him leaving. I don't think this guy had any specific victims in mind, but the more you learn about it the less likely it seems like this was some completely random crime of opportunity where this guy just happened to get lucky. Seems like this person had some kind of murder plan/ fantasy laid out, knew that the schools were out that day and that was a spot where local girls liked to take Instagram pics so he waited and those were the two poor girls who fell into his trap.

"scene of the crime" also did a great 5 or 6 episode podcast on this case

That hat looks like one of those winter hats that old people would wear while ice fishing or something. I don’t know what they are called. They have wool flaps covering the ears and has a bill on the front.
I watched a guy on YouTube breakdown the video of the guy walking. It definitely looks like something large that is long and slim inside his right pant leg. It was chilling knowing that it was most likely a weapon or something even worse than that. Some think it’s a rifle he is hidden and others seem to think it’s a sex toy. Regardless, they need to catch this POS ASAP.
***I really hope none of you make an obvious tasteless joke about that particular thing, considering what happened to these poor girls girls***

Delphi is not far from Purdue's campus and I-65 so it wouldn't surprise me if it's someone traveling through and that's why no one can pin him down.
A 25/35 minute drive on HWY 25 is suppose to be close?

That’s literally in the OP

I mean sure the guy may have known the area but I don’t think he was from or was known by the townspeople. For him to go this long without being caught and him to supposedly be from the town is highly unlikely.

There's a big cold storage food distribution warehouse in Delphi near where this happened, one theory is this guy worked there and that's why he's got on a big coat and looks all bundled up, bc it wasn't even cold that day. The one girl you see in the Snapchat pic on the bridge only has a very light jacket and I think the other girls sister who dropped them of said she didn't even take her jacket when she got out of the car, or the sister had to nag her to take it or something like that.
And yeah it's probably unlikely that it's someone living in the town itself, but someone could still live in the next county over or something and know this place but still be just removed enough to not have the spotlight on him.
But it's also not like it's a super clear picture where you can see his face, it's still a pretty vague image and you only hear a few words on audio that also aren't clear. The sketch in the OP is relatively new and vastly different from the one that they originally released to the public, so the pic is vague enough that people are seeing different things when they look at it. And it's not like people who live in Delphi don't have any suspicion at all of anybody else in Delphi, the LEOs they interview in the podcast all day that's been one of the problems is that every time they release a new sketch or new info that they get flooded with names of people to check out, and just about every male in the county that looks vaguely similar to this has had their name submitted by now and they have to check out every lead they're given.

I understand all that. But even so, Carroll county is a pretty sparsely populated country. Hell I would imagine that most of the surrounding countries are pretty low on population numbers minus the Lafayette area. I bet a lot of the people around there are fairly well acquainted with each other. Just doesn’t really seem to fit that the police believe it’s somebody from an area as unpopulated as that and not have made any arrests.

So it appears the guy has a flat cap on? That seems like an incredible way to narrow this down, how many freaking people wear those? Very very few.
If you watch the zoomed in video, you can tell the guy just has his head down and you’re seeing the top of his head. He’s not wearing a hat.

Typically a cop or someone with involvement with law enforcement when they are really lost

Looks like John Daly.

What's really odd is how many unsolved murders Bardstown has.
I'm 100% convinced it's tied to a drug ring in the area that the police are involved in.
But that's one long, fricked up rabbit hole to go down.
Did they ever find that cop killer on exit 34 on the BG Parkway?

as you said, rumor is it was far grizzlier than reported).
What information has leaked that make people think this? I’m curious. From what I’ve read, cops are tight-lipped, and won’t even confirm how the murders were done.

Link?
I happen to have some extra time to pass these days.
This ain't a bad start, though there is some supposition there that doesn't have a lot of factual basis.
That part of Kentucky has been the wild west for a long, long time. Before this most recent round of foolishness, there was the whole Johnny Boone and Cornbread Mafia operation right around there that got major national news for a while.
Before that it was moonshining, illegal liquor running, and all of that out of there. It's not an accident that that area of the state produces a significant chunk of America's bourbon output.
That part of the world has three things that make it what it is:
- It is an old and large Catholic enclave in the middle of heavily Southern Baptist rural Kentucky
- It has ready access to several major national thoroughfares (I-65, I-64, Bluegrass Parkway)
- It is still incredibly clannish
Interesting - and very beautiful - part of the world, but there is something rotten in the social fabric there right now. It's not like what you might think of as redneck Appalachia rural Kentucky at all - very different dynamic there.

No, and it's going on seven years now.
Not too often that you see an ambush killing of a police officer where the state police and FBI get involved that doesn't get solved.

I think I read on reddit or somewhere else that some people with connnections said the girls were decapitated among other things. It's just rumors but who knows.
