Plus the way the lower class in China lives, there are fricking 8 people living in a one bedroom apartment. Does that sound like you’d be able to properly quarantine with that?

ABC news, and dozens of other news outlets, are reporting this. They aren't sanctioning the new numbers. They are reporting what China has said.
I believe China is lying (no shock there). But the fact that they are adjusting numbers is still reportable news.

5 is "an adjustment". When adding in extra places like hospitals and prisons, even 50 could be "an adjustment", Over 1k after a few months? That's a cover-up (or at least part of one).
