Dear Facebook: need some advice with petty office neighbor drama

OK so tis the season for gifts from all sorts of companies that either do business with me or want to do business with me. Last week, I was delivered (as in, personally delivered by an employee of the company to my hands) a gift basket by a title company. It was fancy sweet stuff.
My suite neighbor across the hall (long relationship with her over about 8 years) commented that she wanted the cookies, so I gave her the cookies. I left the bag on a corner table by my door.
Apparently, Monday (while I was out) my other suite neighbor (female owner and female employee that I don't know and haven't even really exchanged words with) came to my office looking for the package. My assistant answered and was told that the gift bag was meant for THEIR office, and they snatched it up. They were also made that I "ate all of the stuff" and left angry.
Do I try to buy some symbolic cookie gift to make up for the error, or just say frick it because they were rude? I was thinking of getting some gourmet cookies from a local shop but then when I heard they accused me of eating it all, I kind of want to get them some dollar tree cookies as as frick you.

I doubt they were actually angry.

How about do nothing. It's just a fricking gift basket. Who gives a shite?

Any such food items that show up at our office go in the kitchen for all to enjoy. You alone are not the only person at your company that makes everything happen so not sure why you think it all belongs to just you.

I say you storm their office and get your gift basket back.

Walk up onto the roof of the building and fling yourself off from it.

I have been contact by your neighbors about representation.
You can expect a demand letter by certified mail on Monday.

Just tell them you were doing them a favor by eating all the cookies because they don't look like they need any extra calories.

Threesome is the obvious answer.

Either the other people are lying or the employee screwed up. My guess is the other people are lying, but that's only because I think most people are trash.
Either way, you didn't do anything wrong, but a symbolic gesture of apology would be nice because you're dealing with women who will attempt to make your life miserable even though they are the ones in the wrong.

If single, I would treat them all to dinner at once.

Yeah I'd get them a makeup gift. Apologize for the misunderstanding, but make sure they know it wasn't your fault. You still have to be suite neighbors with these people. Size/expense of said makeup gift definitely depends on hotness.

Resign and go find a company where your cookies are safe.
