Any interesting passengers on board this flight?

Not so sure. Luckily he tried it jump seating and not as pilot.

The pilot unions are too strong to stop jumpseating completely. Maybe some pointless FAA reg will come from this.

Right. Might have been more of a cry for help than and actual attempt.

I mean he did it on an aircraft that holds about half the amount of passengers as the one he actually pilots and was in the jumpseat instead of being PIC.

They should have buried the crash axe in his cranium. Boom now he's rehabilitated permanently.

Anyone remember that Chinese flight 5735 from March of 2022? It was a 737-800 that fell from the sky killing 132. China claimed Boeing gave them a defective plane, but pilots who watched the video said it was a suicide dive and the pilot did it intentionally.

What ever came of that? Did China finally admit to it?

I completely agree. I don’t want ANY person I don’t know inside cockpit. Flights cost too damn much money to get murdered by a nut job.

He was a captain himself. His mental break happened to occur when he was jump seating. That was probably a blessing. He may have been more successful if he had been in the left seat when he lost it.

I didn't know this was a thing. As I posted earlier, there should be no one in the cockpit except the pilots flying the plane, except for when a pilot might go to the bathroom, then a flight attendant should be required to be in there with the remaining pilot.

No deadheading pilot should be in the cockpit ever during flight.

It should be. what purpose does it serve to let a non flying pilot sit with the other pilots other than distracting conversation from the task at hand?

FAs are overwhelmingly either gay dudes or women.

How would they stop a single retired military pilot from misbehaving?

Sing him a song from "Rent"?

Pilots are considered working crew while occupying the jumpseat. They’re not supposed to be a distraction but rather another set of eyes and ears in the cockpit.

It's the opportunity for resistance vs there not being any if that helps you.

It's a way for airlines to get their pilots from place to place without giving up a paid seat.
