If she's old enough to realize that there will be maintenance required to keep them clean so infections don't set in.

When my stepdaughter was young she wanted them pierced and she managed to get a slight infection on one lobe, freaked out and quit putting earrings in her ears and the holes closed up. Couple years later when entering high school she had it done again by a friend with the old "needle and potato" trick and had no issues.

I really don’t understand the strong opinions people have on this. Getting ears pierced is not life altering, and I don’t know any women who are upset with their parents for piercing their ears at any age.

I was 7 when I had it done, and I survived. I’m pretty OT trashy, though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

7 is about average these days.

Used to be not too long ago I think parents waited until their daughter hit "teen" years....unless you're gutter of course and get infants ears pierced.

Don't do it its a slippery slope. Then at 10 she will want a belly button piercing. At 12 she will get a clit piercing. 14 a tattoo. 15 will be blowing dudes behind the school dumpster. 16 drop out of school pregnant and marry 21 yr old Jim Bob Baw cause he just finished welding school and they gonna get that money. At 22 be addicted to opiates because of an abusive relationship and after rehab and a divorce move back home for you to take care of her. And you'll sit there and think "damn I shouldn't have let her get her ears pierced at 7"

I mean how hard is it to keep the ear's clean? Alcohol swab 2-3 times a week with the help of a parent like 2-3 weeks. Piercing them is not brain surgery, a high percentage of people do it themselves. If you see whoever does it wipe the needle with alcohol, that's literally all the prevention you need. Am i missing something?

FWIW I have a 5 year old we haven't had done yet. She has asked in the past but not recently. If she asks again I'm not entirely against it. We also had friends that had both their daughters pierced at like 1 week old for their baby pictures...yeah kinda trashy for sure.

Many of us just think it is really trashy to pierce a baby's ears.

That's cool, but his kid is 7.

Why is it trashy to do it younger? I'm not defending it, since I was not a baby and I don't have a baby. I just truly do not give a shite about when people pierce ears.

Don't let your daughter get her ears pierced. That is probably more what the momma wants anyway. Get the girl another doll or a softball or something.

Don't encourage them to grow up any faster than they grow up anyway.

I didn't say anything about it being trashy at 7. I just told him make sure his daughter can care for it.

I got mine done when I was like 5. I didn't care for it properly and my right ear swelled up so much it basically swallowed the earring. Had to go to the doctor to remove earring and let holes close up.

Didn't get them pierced again until I was 12.

I feel like if you aren't old enough to be asking for pierced ears...it is too young to do it.

I'm instantly gonna judge parents of babies with pierced ears. It's a potential source of infection to the baby. But nooo....you ignored that because you wanted your precious "insert white trash girl name" to look cute when you show her around Walmart.

It's always the really trashy ones that seem to have no issues popping out kids isn't it?

You aren't making yourself look less trashy you do realize that?

Just making yourself fit the trashy parent mold even more.

But keeping trying to defend your decision to pierce little Nevaeh's ears by shaming someone else's medical condition.

Well at least you didn't pierce them when she was a baby like the trashy folk do.

Ask anyone with their ears pierced if they'd prefer a pediatrician do it at less than a year old or have it done as a teen.

Good thing you know how to speak to ladies, especially when you're going to try and raise one yourself. Let someone call her a "count", or better yet why don't you just call home now, get on speaker phone and call her and your wife one now. See how it goes over tough guy.

You're a punk.
