Oldest daughter is gonna be 7, told my wife she wants ears pierced for birthday. What’s the right age? Why do I care? I’m still reluctant about her getting them done at 7.

Well at least you didn't pierce them when she was a baby like the trashy folk do.

Half the OT will tell you straight out of the womb going by the babies with pierced ears thread we had a few months ago.

I think as long as she is old enough to be aware of the situation, it’s fine.

Do you think she can properly care for them? Keep them clean, turn the posts, etc?

If so..go for it. If not...maybe wait for another birthday.

He said 7 years of age...not 7 months of age.

So not a trashy move.

Im not a father quite yet, but this is one of the many things that would bother me as father like you are bothered right now. With that said, I personally wouldnt have a problem with an ear piercing at 7, but ONLY an ear piercing. Dont allow anything else until 18. (If I was her dad)

If they're old enough to ask for it, they're old enough to do it.

Go ahead and assume this won't be the first time, as she'll probably let them close up by accident. Will be a great teaching moment about responsibility.

Also, 100% don't get it done at Wal-Mart or the mall. Go to a well-reviewed tattoo/piercing parlor, somewhere with professionals who you know are cleaning their instruments correctly, not some middle-aged no account making $8/hr that's covering a lunch break in the jewelry department.

We are some trashy folks but I remember my sister screaming and crying when she got her ears pierced when I was 6 or 7 and she is 4 years younger than me. She don’t remember that shite and it’s done just like I don’t remember getting circumcised.
