Wtf kind of drinks were yall drinking? I spent that much on a second date once, but it was because I couldn't stop eating the oysters at Drago's. She ate three oysters and half of her entree, and I ate the rest

That’s a fricking bargain compared to being married.

I've been on a lot of dates. Girls would tell me that some guys would take them to a concert or the movies. They'd have great conversations

I mean when you break it down it's really not bad. He said $140 for 4 hours. That comes down to $35 an hour. They both drank 1.25 drinks per hour. If you figure the drinks are ~$10-12 that's $20-24. If they both ordered even a small something to eat that would be at least another $20 or $5 an hour. If you are in the $25-$29 range an hour plus add tax and tip could come out to the $35 an hr.

Damn, dude. Are you really in Athens?

How did you manage to drop $140 on one outing?

I can take my wife to pre-dinner drinks at Highwire, dinner at Last Resort, and then a post-dinner drink somewhere and still spend less than that on both of us.

Marriage is great.

I'm sorry all you baws ended up with shite wives.

I wouldn't trade my wife or family for anything in the world.

Literally, anything.

To the OP, if you think dating is expensive, wait until you have kids..............................

Why the hell do so many guys do the boring dinner/drinks thing? It's expensive, everyone does it, and it isn't very fun.

Well, first of all, you sure as shite don't have to drop $140 on drinks for a first date.

My first date with my eventual wife was meeting up for drinks (no dinner). It's just a casual and easy way to decipher whether the person is a good match for you. Can ya'll carry a conversation? Does she just expect you to pay? What kind of drink do they order? Are they prissy about it?

You can tell a lot about a person from that kind of outing.

I probably spent $35-40 on our first date.

So you're falling for a high maintenance chick that makes more money than you.

Yeah... this isn't going to work out the way you hope.

Athens, FTW.

Cost of living here is phenomenal.

I can go to one of my favorite bars - Highwire - and buy two very well-made cocktails for $18 (including the tip).

Whenever I meet friends in Atlanta, I get sticker-shock all over again. "$13 for a damn cocktail?"
