You realize you can turn almost every "argument" you've made back on the cop, who is an officer of the law
So why not,be reasonable, then go to court? Nothing is going to be resolved at a traffic stop.
Taking things these things to court,is actually our obligation.

Yes, in fact, it is all of our responsibility to confront evil in our midst. Unfortunately the majority feel that we have too much to lose. It's hilarious that people really believe that had the kid rolled down his Window he would've been allowed to drive away with a warning or a ticket. This was a pattern of abuse by the police department towards that kid and his family.
We have a duty to expose and remove animals like this cop from public service. Most of us are grossly derelict in this duty but it is still our responsibility.

Not even sure why I'm bothering, but what the frick...one more try.
This kid, and specifically, his LEO family had already had a run in with this department. The Dad, a LEO in a different department. had already made it clear to the department that he felt the first instance was bullshite.
This kid, and more specifically, his LEO Dad, were then on the radar of this department. The kid was pulled over specifically because of this. This was not just a rouge cop, but a rouge department. Why? Again...read the article. even after this asshat had nearly killed this kid, other "officers" for this department began tailing the kid once he was able to drive again...going so far as rolling up next to his car and glaring at him. To say the whole place had a hard on for this family is kind of an understatement. And this isn't some thug family...this is a FELLOW OFFICER's kid.
I'm just not seeing other than eventually having this come to a head in some way this kid and his family were ever going to get any traction with this issue.

Correct.
From the article...
quote:
Matt felt betrayed. The video shook the convictions he had always held about law enforcement officers. “Instead of putting faith in my own son, I put faith in that Runnels was a cop — and that he knew what he was doing, and that he was a professional.”
Matt had such visceral feelings of loyalty and camaraderie toward his fellow officers that he’d previously been comforted by the assumption Bryce was somehow at least partially culpable for what happened to him. That faith had allowed him to rationalize Runnels’s actions, but there was no rationalizing what was on that recording. It was deliberate, cold, and devoid of empathy or humanity. “I don’t understand, when you watch that video, how you could treat anybody’s kid that way.”
Even a fellow cop, who you fricking KNOW is going to side with his fellow boys in blue even more so then your average jackass on this board, took one look at the video and couldn't believe it.
And yet...leave it to this place, to find someone who will suggest the kid had it coming...
But hey, don't write count or it'll be filtered...

seriously, frick that piece of shite cop and frick his entire department
I have tried to be more and more understanding of police, especially as I've gotten older, but videos like that make my blood boil. It's absolutely disgusting that that pussy has a badge

Gosh, these kids now days are stupid. If an officer told me to get out of the car back in the day, my arse was getting out.

What, stupid people are on an anonymous message board that has basically no restrictions to access, and you blame the site as a whole?

Apparently no one here lives in the real world. Like the cop is gonna say: "oh you have constitutional rights? Well nevermind, have a good day."
Obviously the cop should go down hard, and probably wasn't sentenced harshly enough, but I don't feel bad for the kid at all. Good, honorable cops are few and far between and it should be understood that they treat disrespect the same way any common criminal would, with violence. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

More importantly, the expectation shouldn't be immediate and perfect compliance without getting grabbed and tazed, especially given the lack of information AND the excessiveness.
Besides, the highest standard of the most rational and lawful behavior should be from our public servants.

Blaming the kid is shifting fault from the cop and is an attempt at mitigating the cop's responsibility.

Besides, he could have done that without the only alternative being "sending him on his way immediately."

Yes, but with brain damage. He'll never be the same again thanks to Mr. Billy BadAss Super Cop.

No...I blame the site as a whole for clearly picking and choosing points of view that it will accept and those it will not. while it's certainly true the board is not a democracy and the board owners are free to allow anything they want, why not simply call a spade a spade?
There are some things here that are so CLEARLY beyond the pale that are allowed to go uncheked, and yet simple "bad" words get filtered...and topics that are fairly inane get anchored, deleted or get the posters banned. It's hilarious when you step back and take a look at it.
At some point, it becomes clear by virtue of either action or inaction that the board takes stances on certain topics...does it not?
