If that's the biggest right I get taken away form me but in return I'm not in a coma and brain damaged, I'm willing to make that trade. I'd also pursue other avenues to get this cop off the street, even though it would take longer.

I'm not sacrificing my well being to prove a point.

This kid could not have brain damage at the moment, so there's at least one more person it would benefit.

What would you do? Would you rather be sent to the hospital to point out a bad cop or would you rather go home?

In every single video I see like this, it begins with someone not listening to and obeying the law enforcement officer. When will people learn.

You realize most of the time blind following of authority leads to abuse and misuse of authority.

Hell if that was the way of the world, we would be British right now.

Somebody should've explained to that kid that asking an officer over and over if you're under arrest doesn't grant you the right to resist it.

Once the officer says yes, you are under arrest, you comply or face shite like this from angry, messed up cops.

Terrific counter argument counselor. If my options are brain damage or "trampled rights" in that instant, I choose the trampled rights. Call me what ever insult you like.

So as long as you don't get beaten up or killed, you'll be happy to do as they say? That's a hell of an exchange, not terribly different than getting mugged on the street.

Somehow I feel like the people that founded this country would fundamentally disagree with that position.

Trampled rights are the reason people disrespect law enforcement today. It's a well deserved disrespect.

I hope no one needs to tell you why this is a dumb argument.

But I wouldn't be shocked if you're just trying to stir shite up so you can spend your entire day arguing.

I've complied with every cop I've ever encountered, and I've yet to feel like I've been mugged. TYhis includes a time that a cop issued me a ticket for drag racing that was complete bullshite. But instead of fighting with him on the scene, I had my day in court and the entire thing was dismissed, costing me nothing besides two hours one Thursday morning. There is a time and place to stand up for yourself. Alone with a hothead cop with a vendetta is not that time to me.

Well, they didn't live in the country we do currently, so that's to be expected.

The cop was already pulling him out of the car when he says "yes" and when the kid asks why, the cop says "fine, frick it, just get out" and tazes him.

That sounds great in theory, but in practice it's very costly in time and money to dispute things in court. Our legal industry isn't designed to help citizens resolve issues, especially against cops. It's designed to generate revenue.

Yeah,it's a rough road,I understand that,it's costly too,but look at all that this ended up costing. A brain damaged guy,cop in prison, lives ruined all over the place, probably millions spent in court.

Seems to me trusting in the judicial system first, would have been less costly.

Hey, the media got a more sensational story though, and isn't that what it's all about these days?

This sounds vaguely like you trying to call me dumb without actually making an argument.

Anyone else notice how often we now find out official police statements are turning out to be pure lies meant to cover their asses for abusing their power?

I was witness to an arrest a few years back. Offered to testify on behalf of the defendant if needed after I was provided a copy of the police report that was 10 sentences. 9 of which had false statements or gross exaggerations to justify the arrest.

Gosh, these kids now days are stupid. If an officer told me to get out of the car back in the day, my arse was getting out. The kid deserved everything he got.

This, for all the viewers at home, is what happens when you successfully intimidate a population into being afraid to stick up for your rights.

This kid did, and he paid the price.

I get it. You know your rights and you are intellectual tough guy....but the government has giving this officer a commission in order to enforce laws. Maybe he is an arse. Maybe I feel I'm right and he's wrong. Yes, the officer could be more tactful, but you must be smart and play the game. You should do as the officer says. It's not smart to sit in the car and act like a wise-arse. Take your ticket and discuss it in front of the judge. That is the platform where you can show how smart you are.

I have stood up to police being unreasonable before. That included a BS search that I knew they had no PC for.

Was I supposed to consent out of fear of being shot or tased to death? What exactly are you trying to say here? Stand up for your rights and risk death?

it seems to be the only way of getting a reasonable argument across to some of you.

the kid rolls his window down (stripping him of what it truly means to be an american, and having all of his rights so abruptly stripped from him) has a conversation like an adult, he goes home and not to the hospital
