.“You don’t like to play by the rules, do you,” Runnels said. The Masters could see Bryce’s heart heaving up and down on the screen, an indication that he was going through cardiac arrest. Runnels seemed to ignore all this and, as the video shot by a neighbor makes clear, he put his right foot onto Bryce’s back. “Bryce, better sit up,” he said. “I don’t play games.”
The problem is the cop is the one making up/not playing by the rules. As a public servant, you aren't allowed to make up rules. The rules are set and you are to follow them whether or not it hurts your precious ego. If the officer had followed the rules, he wouldn't be in jail. Kid followed the rules until he was told he was under arrest. Even then, he believed (and rightfully so) that he was being ILLEGALLY detained and had every legal right to fight back.
Sucks he went into a coma to bring this type of power abuse to our attention, but bravo for doing so. I don't have a nut sack like that. I would've rolled down the window.

for acting like an adult? ok
No, for believing that one should can and should buy peace through submission to abuses by an out of control police state.

The cop over-reacted, I said that in my first reply.
Why not comply, then take it all up in court though?
That's what our court system is for.
Probably, if the kid deals with the cop in a reasonable way,and has done nothing wrong,he drives away without even a ticket.

Goddamn every single one of you constitution hating, freedom loathing, boot licking fascist sons of bitches in this thread
I don't know which is more sad, the fact our republic is devolving into a police state where cops feel free to shite on the constitution or the fact so many people are perfectly happy to let it happen.

According to the story, the kid was stopped for outstanding warrant. The cop tazes him in the chest for 23 seconds. The kid goes into cardiac arrest. The cop dropped him on his face while he was handcuffed and busted up his chin.
quote:
-okay, so he had a reason to get out of the vehicle and be arrested.
-the cop tazed him instead of shot him
"The family said the teen did not have a warrant for his arrest, and the car he was driving was properly registered to his parents and did not have a warrant associated with it.
That contradicts what Independence police said shortly after the incident, when officials announced the car’s license plate was associated with a woman wanted on an arrest warrant."
So...even if there was a warrant, the kid obviously wasn't the woman associated with the warrant.
Article on arrest

Again, there is a court system, use it.

Sure, but ultimately you lay the blame at the feet of the kid for "ruining" his and the officer's life- that's exclusively on the tPOS cop who decided to execute criminal activities while on duty.

That's what our court system is for.
Why not follow the law and not abuse your authority? The kid was 100% within his rights and this deranged individual with a badge was 100% not- that is undeniable and has been settled by the court at this point; that's what our court system is for.

Probably, if the cop deals with the kid in a reasonable way,and has done nothing wrong,he isn't getting his a-hole enlarged on a daily basis for the next four years.

Don't worry, everyone here down voting you would do the same thing. If preferring to go home rather than to the hospital makes me a pussy bootlicker then so be it.
You ot alphas don't fool me. You would all do the same thing.

It has been used. The cop has been found to be a criminal and the kid has been vindicated.

Other than oldyeller, I don't see anyone in here saying the cop wasn't in the wrong.

You think rolling down the window would have changed anything here
is this a real question? yes i think, like most reasonable people, that if he rolled down the window would have changed everything here.
im not saying the kid (or anyone for that matter) should get out and bend over and let a cop shove a baton up your arse. im saying if he rolls down the window the situation does not escalate to where it did

And then the police tried to cover it up to justify their actions. This story is disgusting and people on here defending the cop are idiots and arguing against the basic constitutional tenants of the USA. I don't get it.
Posted on 6/8/16 at 9:24 am to Displaced
There's plenty trying to say the kid was equally in the wrong as the cop and that is just factually not true.
Posted on 6/8/16 at 9:24 am to tigerpimpbot
Who is defending the cop?
Posted on 6/8/16 at 9:26 am to ManBearTiger
I guess I get how you see it that way, but I read it as a bunch of posters saying they don't think it would have escalated to that level if the kid had complied. I don't see that as blaming the kid. He was within his rights and deserves no blame. in the sense of personal safety, however, refusing to comply was pretty dumb.
