Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?
Did I say the kid isn't innocent?

It's not "innocent until you meet a hard-arse with a gun and badge and then act a little guilty so he doesn't end your life."
I never claimed as much.

I love these kinds of videos just based on the comments alone. It's clear that old people (baby boomers and such) think it's okay for cops to do whatever the frick they want because they wear a badge. fricking sheep.
What do you consider old? I am 62 and i think the Cop should be publicly hanged. Guys like this one gives cops a bad name.

I think you are, but I'm not willing to die for it.

Thanks Now back to completely disagreeing and arguing forever.
We can find a second thing to agree on... eventually.

I have seen no one say that in this thread.

I said the cop was the worst. Infinitely worse.
All I am saying is that you and every person like you who wants to "exert your constitution rights" when it has been proven time and time again that a ton of cops are immature and power hungry.....are just stupid.
It's like fighting a guy who insulted your girl when 10 of his buddies are with him and you are alone. You deserve to get your butt beat.
No, it's not like that at all. The former is perfectly legal and the latter is assault on your part.
Look, I'd love for people to be a little nicer to each other, but I'm not going to put an ounce of blame on a guy who is exercising his legal rights and is assaulted by a police officer for doing so. Think about that - the person charged with upholding the law is assaulting you for exercising your rights.

Okay, buddy. Teach your children to be sheep. I'm sure it'll work out well for them.

And no one is defending that.

Are you willing to be beaten/tased/shot by a crooked cop who is trying to remove you from your vehicle when you are within your rights to remain in it?

Which person is right and which is wrong?
Call me an idealist, but I'm going to go with being the person who's within his rights.
Succumbing to abusive police officers is what has caused this outbreak in the first place.
Where do we draw the line? Next, we're giving them bj's on the side of the road so they won't go to our house and kill our families?

OBEY MY AUTHORITY
Eta: the rest of the story is even more fricked up than just the video. cops protecting other corrupt cops and always trying to frame their abuse on innocent citizens. its sickening

Meh, you aren't winning the battle on the scene with a hot head cop hell bent on imposing his will. This seems like a perfect example of that.
So are you at fault for trying?

No, and that's already been covered. Read the last couple pages.

Resisting at a traffic stop,is never going to accomplish anything good.Only a stupid hot head,or a spoiled child would try it. Old saying is: "Discretion is the better part of valor." In other words," Fight your battles where you are likely to win".
This is exactly the kind of thinking that maintains the status quo. If enough "stupid hot heads or spoiled children" exert their constitutional rights, perhaps every officer would be held to a higher standard.
Shrugging this off by saying lots of cops suck and you should be careful when you're stopped is a loser's mentality. You'll never get your rights back that way.

no it isn't. It's merely knowing when to pick your battle.

Most cops don't act like this guy.

I gave an example where I picked my battle and did exactly that.

If my options are brain damage or "trampled rights" in that instant, I choose the trampled rights. Call me what ever insult you like.
And because people continue to take that route, the rights are continuously trampled. Every time you take that choice you're effectively condoning the actions of the officer. It's just not that big of a deal to you, so more cops will continue to abuse their power, and eventually one of these SOBs will murder someone. These guys don't just snap - they continuously push the envelope and get away with until eventually someone decides to stand up to them and is severely injured or murdered in cold blood.

That's not how I feel at all actually.

I Have a successful grown daughter, that has never even had a traffic ticket. She owns her own home, and has never been a single moments problem.
I know a lot of people that act out before they think, they are their own worst enemies. They are the very people that keep the legal system profitable, and are always struggling financially.
They are constantly having problems, I was like that when I was younger too, until I figured out that there is an easier way to win.
I even had a recent legal problem, but I won in court.I knew that I was right, and knew that I would win.
Heck, as soon as I found out that I was going to be charged with a crime, I turned myself in to the cops, signed out 20 minutes later. It was a whole lot more serious than a traffic stop.
