frick no.
Don’t rely on anyone else to make your kid an athlete…YOU go throw the ball with him, kick the ball with him, anything, but don’t fricking dance with him.

Braxton might not have the makings of a varsity athlete

I am old enough to remember the episode of Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood where Lynn Swann demonstrated his ballet skills, which he said helped him become a Hall of Fame WR.. i remember it like it was six months ago, but it’s probably been 45 yrs .

There are receivers who take ballet.. Im not bullshitting. Helps them with their balance.

His dad enrolled him in dance lessons as a kid to help with his boxing footwork
Was really good when I was younger. The jitterbug is a great dance to learn for boxing. Also was great as I got older as ladies love a dude that can cut a rug. Even if they fail at sports you should get some grandkids out of it.

Wrestling is great for coordination

There's a lot of standalone gymnastics gyms that have "Ninja" classes for young boys going all the way to late teens. It's a weekly or twice-weekly class just like signing them up for any other sport.
Basically a mix between parkour and martial arts with a little bit of gymnastics thrown in. My wife worked at a gym and the classes I've seen a couple times were very intense, especially the older aged classes.
It would be much better for his coordination, speed, strength, and reflexes than dance would. Plus he'll likely be much more enthusiastic about ninja classes (what 8 year old boy DOESN'T want to be a ninja?) than he would dance, and he won't get made fun of or beat up for "quitting all other sports" to go dance

My son is 8. Decent athlete, but still has no great control over his body. Thinking about taking him out off of sports for a year and putting him into dance so he can learn coordination and footwork.
He is 8. Chill out and let him have fun playing sports at that age
Sports don’t really get serious until junior varsity. Also, ask him what he wants to do because I seriously doubt a 8 year old would be happy with quitting sports for dance classes.

He’s interested in Golf. Bought a driver for him a while back and went out a few times
That is a quick way to frustrate, particularly an uncoordinated kid, with golf. Buy him a 6 or 7 iron.

My son had coordination problems big time. Couldn’t hit a ball of a tee in tee ball. We put him in jiu jitsu to help with body awareness, core strength, etc. 6 months later the 4 year old is throwing the baseball in the air to himself and piping it across the yard. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it. It was remarkably fast progress and he was able to do it without stopping anything else. Just two or three nights a week.

Hershel Walker used to take ballet for similar reasons, but it got him kicked off the All-Madden team.

Have any of you baws put your son in dance classes
Just don't.
Those dance recital pictures will come back to haunt him one day.

Not to be a dick but if he’s uncoordinated I doubts he’s much of an athlete.
Not necessarily. I was uncoordinated as hell until about 8th grade. I went on to win all kinds of all conference and best at my position in football awards. Played in the statewide All Star football game and 2 years college football.
You don’t really know how kids will fill out once they hit puberty full stride

This 100% has to be a troll thread. It's a crappy one though.

I don’t disagree one bit. I was just responding to the OPs claim that the kid was uncoordinated and currently a good athlete which I find unlikely.
