I don’t consider Alden to be a competitor of Allen Edmonds. That’s kind of like saying Alabama is a competitor of Louisiana Tech.

Great shoe for the price when on sale. I wish the classics like the park went on sale more often

Thank you. Alden is a way better shoe then Allen Edmonds. Allen edmonds is barely better then a mall brand now. I own about 10 pair of Alden’s and I can’t see wearing cheap shoes that will fall apart after a year of wear. I just sent my first pair in to be recrafted. Alden Indy’s with a commando sole on them last 7 years of average 3 days a week wear. Paid $175 for the work and they came back like new.

The OT is the only place where the posters are above $400 shoes but can't understand why someone would pay a Mexican to cut their grass.

And they dry with the same towel for a month

That's not a surprise. 200 blue jeans, 400 shoes, and 100 belts. How many folks can really afford that? Aside from all the OT millionaires, of course.

i don't have any of their jeans but I have one of their belts and 5 pair of their shoes and I'm no millionaire. I just prefer to buy shite that lasts and is classic.

Did anyone say they are? My point was that there are not many Goodyear welted American options that use quality leather. AE is perhaps the only one under $500.

To suggest that the 5th Avenue, strand, MacNeil, patriot, etc are barely above mall quality exceeds the bounds of hyperbole

I agree. I love my Indy Boots. I just bought a pair of Alden Suede Chukka boots this year that may be the most comfortable shoes I own. Alden still uses a steel shank where everyone else is going to plastic.

Did you know they can be recrafted by the factory to look new?

What’s wrong with Ecco? I’ve got a pair of Brown casual shoes I wear every day that I bargained shopped on amazon for $70. They’re very comfortable and held up well

Their golf shoes are fantastic

I'm more of a Levi's man myself. I have a dark pair for my dress jeans

What do you people do to your shoes?

Do you only have a couple pairs? Not taking care of them?

Apparently. I rarely wear a suit, but some occasions definitely call for one. Then again, I have been to weddings where I observed attendees in blue jeans.

$400 for dress shoes is dumb.

But, bro, if you take care of them and get them re-soled, they'll last 25 years!

I had an old pair of Ecco drivers and Ecco golf shoes. They're very comfortable and pretty durable.

They're just also very utilitarian and pretty ugly.
