It was also a white officer killing an innocent black man. Unfortunately, this country has had a history of that resulting in a lack of justice. The race card is pulled way too often after justifiable discharges, but I can't blame some black people for feeling like they are on the losing end more often than they should be.

I haven’t kept up with this story very closely so this is the first I’ve heard of this.....what is the story here???
She texted her boy toy partner saying she needed help and another saying she fricked up. Don't believe she called anyone but 911.

I thought that was a pretty reasonable and accurate post.

Congrats on not understanding nuance.

Does anyone know what kind of murder they have convicted? First, second, etc?
Posted on 10/1/19 at 11:50 am to JumpingTheShark
Texas doesn't have degrees of murder. This needs to be added to the OP.

Did she do that before, during, or after calling 911?

Twitter is still mad for some reason.

Please tell me all the times we have seen blacks end up “on the losing side here”?
I would like a reasonable answer to this. Remember, we are talking about seeing it. Not reading about it in a history book. Sure, that black woman Nicole Simpson is one example of getting screwed

Pretty sure during.

This is not really a negative comment about verdict but more on how some other homicides are treated.
If this fits a murder conviction than stuff like the little shite dreamer from Bryan, TX who ran over an A&M student while driving high on drugs, checked car and left scene without rendering aid, and then later ran from cops needs to have harsher charges. The student (and family) suffered for a week including a leg amputation along with bad head & other body injuries before succumbing to injuries he caused.

Really? I didn’t know that. That’s odd

Philando Castile.

Black people on the jury voted to acquit

I see it as an extreme stretch of clause 2 in the Texas murder law.
Are you talking about Sec. 19.02 (b) 2? If so note that is an "or" subsection, not an "and" subsection.

How are people surprised by the outcome of this? If she were on duty and responding to a call then she would get a pass but you can't just walk into people's homes and shoot them on your own time.

Philando Castile was shot by Jeronimo Yanez. The post specifically mentioned white shooting black ending up in injustice.
ETA: not saying Castile wasn't wronged; I believe he was. But the officer was Hispanic.

As long as people think like you, on both sides of the racial line, we are stuck in the mud

How did this become a race issue
Call it a conditioned response or not, but I'm quite certain that she was quick to shoot based on his age and color. You can blame that demographic that has a tendency to commit the higher percentage of crime as to her quickened yet incorrect response to shoot.
IMO, if that was a 10 year old white boy, or even a 65 year old black gentleman, she would not have even drawn her weapon.
So yes, this was about race.
