Jury not in yet. But judge on record says Defense has asked to include sudden passion in instructions to jury as they consider punishment. State agrees. This could impact length of sentence. Sudden Passion says “...passion caused by provocation of the individual killed....1/2 https://t.co/3btNKWqOEh

2/2”...arising at the time of offense.” Can be introduced in punishment phase. Judge Kemp made it clear, the defense & state agreed to this. Murder F1 carries 5-99 prison term. If sudden passion goes, reduces penalty range to 2-20; probation also option. Jurors still decide. https://t.co/oyzTtdc4mE

Starting Monday morning, former Dallas Police Department Officer Amber Guyger goes on trial for the murder of Botham Jean.
It's been over a year now since Guyger was caught on cell phone video pacing and on the phone calling for help after killing her upstairs neighbor at the Southside Flats in Dallas.
She told police she mistook his apartment for her own, opened the door, and saw a figure inside that she believed to be a burglar.
She said she gave him "verbal commands that were ignored," then shot him before ever entering the apartment.

I don't know anything about the Dallas force, but everyone can agree this is a step towards cleaning up any mess of what you say they've become...it's a shame someone like that got on the force in the first place

She gone.
This is the same one where dallas PD started looking for drugs/anything to smear the poor victim right?

Best she can hope for is manslaughter and 8-10 years in the pokie. I don't think murder fits. But there's no way she just walks.

Yep. I think they found some weed in the victim's apartment, if I remember correctly.

Did y’all see the new trial photos?
She is wearing what looks like designer clothes, has a ton of makeup on and it seems the defense attorney is hoping for jury nullification via pretty looking lady.

Lol she was going for the "reverse castle doctrine"

Kill a cop expect a no bond, as a cop kill a civilian for literally no reason, have yourself a reasonable bond. Complete pile of horse shite.

2nd degree Murder is a little much for them to ask for IMO. Negligent homicide or voluntary manslaughter seems more realistic.
ETA: I was wrong.

After the incident:
Ambert Guyger: i used the right words, right? he wasn't following commands. i'll be ok, right?

It’s 2020. We call it the “wrong turret doctrine” now.

if she gets off I’ll have lost an immense amount of respect for our judicial system

There is no way she gets off, if she does I might riot.
