Why are we talking about Dallas and Collin County burbs when you can get entertainment, even better food, and not get murdered in Ft. Worth?

I used food as a joking jab at 50. Then y'all actually tried to convince me it was better in the burbs.

We get it man, you gave up on life and got your mcmansion 3 feet from your neighbor. Now you watch the news and repeat the worst qualities of Dallas at the top of your lungs to justify your choice. Even in the face of people who actually live there now and are completely unaffected by it.

Fort Worth is a great town. Definitely a fun place to go with a nice change of pace from Dallas.

I remember Dallas from the 1980s and into the 1990s. It was pretty awesome back then. It is just been a slow steady decline since then.

Collin County was nothing but farms and cattle. Who knew what it would become. Back then you only went north as far as the Galleria and Valley View.

Fort Worth does not have better food than Dallas.

Fort Worth sucks tbh. shitty nightlife and a bunch of chains

No, been in this house for 15 years. The lots were much bigger back then and less cookie cutter.

I did live in San Franciso for some time, would of loved to have 3 feet between houses. So many people wanting to live in that little piece of land.

Oh yeah - San Fran food >>>>> Dallas food.

The great NOLA exodus (Katrina) is finally paying off for Texas.

It absolutely does.

I guess the gay scene isn’t as good, but if you think Ft. Worth is just a bunch of chains you haven’t actually been to Ft. Worth. Hell, you could have tricked some people into thinking you knew what you were talking about if you would have left that last statement out of the post...

How is the Las Colinas area these days? About 10 or so years ago it was booming with new construction. Is it still as desirable of a place to live?

The problem with Las Colinas is really the public schools you feed into. No a large enough area to have their own schools so you end up getting a bunch of kids from the rest of Irving as you get into the high schools.

Outside of that there are very nice neighborhoods, you're right next to the Toyota Music Factory, you're close to stadiums in arlington and downtown Dallas.

I was a champion of Las Colinas for awhile :D

The office is in Las Colinas and the TMF area has really blown up into something nice. I really enjoy going to the gastropub there. I think its name is the Thirsty Lion.

Such hyperbole.

It's about walkable neighborhoods. We often walk to a restaurant, walk down the street for gelato, walk across the street for a beer and walk home. Or we ride our bikes to another area. Even when we drive, its 15 minutes max to get to Bishop Arts....where we walk to various places. I also ride my bike to the grocery store, bank, etc. That's what city living gives you. Since I work from home, I can go a week or more without ever driving. As for crime, I've lived near lower greenville for 25 years and never had an issue. I know stuff happens but its not that common. The murders that happened this month were mostly in south dallas in areas I would never go anyway.

Collin county is Texas' version of Orange County.

Not a bad thing, just all the former "big city" entertainment and dining perks are closer now. I fear that Collin and Denton counties will be miserable due to traffic in 5 years or so. You can make a case now.
