The video was great until he threw condoms at him and told him go get some pussy. That's pure fckn trash right there.

Or he could’ve just not gotten his son something that makes him soft, lazy, and in overall has no benefit to him whatsoever.

It took this long for the obvious answer. Don't buy the video games to begin with.

What the fack? Can't recall seeing a 10 year old that couldn't swim since I've been a parent.
What does a kid who can’t swim look like?

I am kind of worried about this. On one hand I play video games and I'm not a dad, on the other I see frustrated parents just handing their kids phones and tablets to shut them up.
If my kid enjoys video games, I'll support him/her but I'm also going to make it a point to adventure and do new things with them.

Seems a little extreme to me

In my opinion, this is a pretty good example of a parent wishing his kid enjoyed the same things the parent enjoyed when the parent was a child, but the parent (likely) not “putting in the time” to ensure that happened.
I can remember RUNNING from the bus stop (we actually had to walk a block to catch the bus) back to the house after school to throw on hunting clothes, grabbing a 20 gauge crack barrel, and taping it to my bicycle handle bars to ride to the back of our neighborhood to hit the woods after school. I loved to hunt and fish.
My dad wasn’t a big time hunter - he was more into golf and tinkering on / rebuilding cars - which wasn’t my thing. But when it became obvious to him that I was going to be an outdoorsman, he did a pretty dang good job of being sure he took me hunting and fishing enough to promote that activity.
I got no clue regarding the parenting skills of the dad in the story. I do think, however, that his sending the kid outside to play as (pretty much) punishment probably won’t accomplish his goal here. Seems kinda like a “beatings will continue until attitude improves” move. JMO.

Exactly, who doesn’t love a rousing game of conkers or even pooh sticks.

Dad if he didn't should grab a baseball and go with

So to clarify, that dad is an idiot, but my point about those defending the video games still stands.

Because the dad is trash.

Sad. Who would have thought kids had to be made to play outside?
A recent study shows that kids spend less time outside than maximum security prisoners.

Other than an iPad, my kids have no gaming device and they have yet to even ask for one. The first thing they want to do when they get home from school is go outside and play.

My son plays a lot on his XBox One but also plays a lot outside. He and the two neighbors boys his age (12) came home after 2 hours off in the woods yesterday covered in mud from shoulder to foot. Asked him where they went and he just said “we were back in that creek by the power lines.” I was pleased because that is about 3/4 of a mile trek through the woods. He washed up and then watched The Masters with me from 4pm until the final group finished. Then on to XBox for 2 hours before I told him it was time to get off.
But by God he doesn’t have an IPhone yet and apparently and according to him he is the only one his age who doesn’t have a phone. Told him I don’t give a damn. He can have a phone when I think he by God needs a phone. Told him probably when he turns 14 like his older sisters but I ain’t making no guarantee.

Kids don’t play outside for three reasons:
1. Parents don’t let their kids out of the back yard or driveway. When I was growing up, as long as they were back by dark, it was probably ok. Kids could roam free, explore the woods, build forts, go to the park, visit other houses, etc. Today, rogue kids in the park results in the cops and protective services being called.
2. There’s no other kids to play with. Since all the other kids aren’t allowed to really play away from their homes, there’s no other kids to play with. When I was growing up, sending a kid to his room was isolating them from the world. Now, with the internet, their room connects them with hundreds of millions of people. Sending them outside isolates them from everyone because there’s no one out there but passing cars and stray cats.
3. Multiplayer online games. Once again, growing up, you had to have your friends over to play multiplayer games. It was a social thing, and the bots controlled by the game were really boring to play against. Now with the advent of MMORPG’s, X-Box Live, etc, that kid can play with all of his friends all the time whether they’re hanging out together or not. They also have a near infinite number of other kids to play with and smack talk with.
So yeah, blame it on society. That’s why Utah had to pass a law allowing “free range parenting” to tell parents that they won’t get the cops called on them or have their kids taken away if they let their children walk home from school or ride their bikes to the park.

But you're right. Whenever I hear adults talking about how fricked up recent generations are, I point out that they didn't fall out of the sky that way. They were RAISED that way.
But, it's a challenge. Parents who still parent are in the minority. And, they are competing straight up with both other parents AND the schools to not raise total pussies who think their self esteem is the most important thing in the world.

ya kicking the kid out and throwing condoms at him while recording and posting it online was all for the good of the child for sure.
