1.Parents don’t let their kids out of the back yard or driveway. When I was growing up, as long as they were back by dark, it was probably ok. Kids could roam free, explore the woods, build forts, go to the park, visit other houses, etc. Today, rogue kids in the park results in the cops and protective services being called.

Well, that's part of the reason a lot of parents don't let their kids out. Too many cities have overly protective child supervision laws. There are places you can't let a 15yo out unattended without risking a visit from CPS.

Your d-bags took this way out of proportion. Checking out means that we keep in our closet so they can only play it when they earn it.

I think that's exactly what everyone thought you meant.

Our game room Is upstairs and away from everything else so unless you were standing outside the door it is hard to tell what is going on in there.

So yes, you bet your arse we’re going to take that thing away to ensure we know exactly how much they’re playing it

I just take the power cord or the controllers if I don't want them to play.

I started taking my son to play golf with me when he was about 6. He is now grown and we play once or twice a week when the weather permits. It’s a great way to spend 4 hours together outdoors.

Seems fake.

I am just glad it wasn't one of those break the system and videos games clip. I am not a fan of that. There are other ways to get rid of stuff like that than to destroy it. If that is even necessary.

What the frick is wrong with you? You’re an awful parent and your kids are going to hate you when they realize all the fun times you’ve taken away from that.

Smart move. If he plays too much Call of Duty he might shoot up a school one day

As a kid I had enough imaginary battles to win a world war in my backyard. I’d walk out of the house wearing enough toy firepower to make Rambo look like a pussy. My dad had a utility trailer that would serve as a boat that I’d defend from bad guys crusing down the river.

And somehow I managed to not shoot any schools.
