D-Day was 74 years ago today. I can't think of anything more Alpha as frick than this.

I can only imagine how terrified those men were right before those boats hit the beach.

But they still had the biggest fricking balls in modern history.

A big salute to our grandfathers and fathers that fought and died that day for freedom and to protect the United States of America.

one of these three coins was in my Grandpa's pocket when he parachuted in to France before D-Day. The other two were in the pockets of my great uncles who were in the air force and navy. Their dad gave them each a coin when they left so that they had to come back since they owed him money.

In a sobering reminder of how time passes by all of us - even the 16- and 17-year olds who hit the beaches that morning are in their 90s, now.

Once nearly indestructible, it won't be long before they're all gone.

I can’t imagine what they would think of this generation after what they accomplished.

Damn it, I didn't think about this when I planned my trip. I'm in Europe right now, and could have gone to Normandy for today.

The beginning of Saving Private Ryan when they're in the boats waiting to land....that is chilling.

Nothing says Alpha like charging A bunch of fortified Machine gun nest. Id rather Die by machine gun then by drowning like so many did because the landing craft couldnt get close enough to the beach.

Your final moments of life watching everyone die in front of you , next to you in the worst ways imaginable. Alot of respect for these guys

This generation of 19 and 20 year olds would shoot the driver turn the boat around and go hide somewhere

You have absolutely no idea how this generation of 18 and 19 years old would do in a world war.
