I have a set I bought 23 years ago from my younger brother. I love them.
I paid too much at the time but they have stood the test of time.

They suck and their business model sucks.

Went to high school with a guy that still sells cutco and he thinks he's a business owner, entrepreneur, and all-around financial genius...in reality he's a fricking joke

These knives will slice through your fingers like butter if you touch them wrong. I’ve heard many a story of people slicing their hands while washing them. Something that they’ve never worried about before.

Cutco knives are by far the best MLM product, which is why it's lasted the test of time

still over priced, but if you want to just throw down a lil more than you'd have to (by individual section) for a set for life, it's not a bad deal

They’re overpriced but legit knives. I love my set. I don’t mind paying extra for lifetime warranty and free sharpening.

The carving knife is a great multi-purpose knife. Mine are 40 years old (they started in my mother's kitchen).

Good knives, but way overpriced.

They are stamped knives with a (more or less permanent) serrated edge.

Probably a little overpriced, but extremely high quality for what they are (stamped, serrated edge) - you don't have to futz with them very much and they will serve the typical home chef very well.

A nice forged German or Japanese blade is going to be "better", allow for more precise control, but also require more and regular effort to maintain that fine edge.

It is a personal preference - Mrs. Midnight prefers Cutco knives (and does not accidentally cut herself nearly as much). I prefer forged German knives.

Apparently they now have blades that aren't serrated.

Never used one that wasn't serrated.

Good product, might be a little overpriced, but they aren't crap.

Most people don't know how to properly wash a knife either, so regardless of brand, when they are sharp they get cut. Always wash from the spine towards the edge, never the other way. That way you reduce the chance of getting cut and you won't dull the blade as bad from numerous washings.

Cutco has owned Ka-Bar for some time now, too.

Modern Ka-Bar knives are legit homages to a better, vanished time of knife making.

Maybe that has improved Cutco's core products?

What Midnight said. Putting the MLM part aside, for low to no maintenance knives they're fine and will hold up to regular use, great warranty, yadda yadda.

I prefer my Wusthofs and Shuns, but I also love knives and sharpening a knife is a relaxing, cathartic experience for me.

"Depends how hot the college chick selling them is"

yeah they sent some strapping young man to my house. Honey bunny's eyes looked like a slot machine. Got the red ones. Knives are nice, warranty is legit.
